I just don't think their style suits someone like Snoop Dogg. Just doesn't make any sense to me. It's like having someone like Adele pairing up with someone who raps. It may work, but they're remixing The Boys. I still think it's an ok (not great) song, but to hear it more "Americanized" just makes me worried about what the end result is...
And just saying Interscope is paired up with American Idol, which in recent years, really suck. Especially the last winner. So you can't really use the excuse that they're paired up with Interscope, because they still have artist that are still unknown, and overshadowed by other artists in the same record label.
Interscope also has popular/talented artists, so pointing out the American Idol thing doesn't mean much. The point you're missing is that being signed to an American label means they have to do something in America in order to fill their contract agreements. Otherwise, why the hell would interscope bother signing them.
The Teddy Riley hate is still stupid IMO. He got flak for the Boys being bad, but there were a fucking host of other composers working on the song and he doesn't have lyrics credits, so TheLink blaming him for the rapping is entirely unfounded as he didn't touch that part of the song.
edit- @TheLink I think it's more due to Japan/US promotions than anything else. I'm sure if SM really wanted to break them up they wouldn't have much say at all.

They personally signed them so they obviously want to work with them. Of course there are unknown artistes in Interscope too, but if you don't try you will never know what could be.

When he gets the majority of the praise for the song it's not more than right that he gets most of the flak as well. And I can't believe that T.R.X in the beginning could mean anything else than Teddy Riley eXperience.

Teddy Riley and Tiffany actually have the lyrics credits to the English version if the wikipedia page is correct. I'm not sure which version was written first though, so I don't know if the song was just translated it into English or if it was the other way around.

I never said that I think he deserves a majority of the praise either. The only reason he did is cause SM decided to make it big news that they got an American producer to work with them.
@Song credits- well then TheLink should have blamed Tiffany for half the lyrics in the eng version being bad as well, even though he won't for obvious reasons.
and yeah, no way to know which version came first but if I had to bet I'd say the Korean version, the English version has that "we gotta fit the lyrics into this melody already cause it has to sound like a preexisting version" kind of feel to it.
also because I have to believe that 2 english speakers wouldn't write such shitty lyrics as "Girl's Generation make you feel the heat".

>'Girls' Generation make you feel the heat' are in both versions
I am aware of that. That's why I think that the Korean version was written first, because 2 native english speakers wouldn't write "Girl's Generation make you feel the heat", but the Korean writers would. When TR and Tiffany (if that's to be believed) got the songs, I'm betting they were forced to keep the english lyics already in so that the songs sound more similar.
That's some disappointing stuff that Tiffany was part of the lyric writing process for the English songs. I'm a battle-hardened sone and all dat but ill be damned I call out when members fuck up.
I'll just pad it and hope that she was part of the "yo this sounds retarded" editing process rather than the "write down 'we're born to win'" writing process.
I mean, seeing as I doubt Tiffany received training in writing lyrics, so I could totally see her writing something like "Life is a mystery/I'm gonna make history". Not that she did, but that it's plausible. Ofc I can't see Teddy Riley as a native English speaker writing down something that retarded either, but who knows.

Regardless, the actual song - the vocals is still really bad. Jus' sayin.

American pop lyrics is just as lame as Korean lyrics ... i don't think that's the issue, i think its that Korean songs "translated" into English sound extra odd ...
Teddy Riley has not done anything in like 20 years ... this is the Teddy Riley i remember ... he is not known for good lyrics (he has the camera in the video if you don't know).
