Do you remember the little girls from the Beijing Olympics that sang? The one singing was actually in the background cause she was too ugly to stand in the stadium. I understand if the song is like completely utterly mastered and the singer has a really great voice then appearance doesn't matter (Kelly Clarkson and Adele for examples), but some of these songs aren't the best, so you need something there visually to make up for it. There really aren't that many "ugly" singers though, so it's really the talk of the town when one of them comes around, the screening process (and plastic surgery) for finding stars literally almost eliminates the amount of ugly people. | ||

I would not, for instance, hold it against someone if they could not take Pavarotti seriously in the role of a starving poet or a dashing prince. Rather, opera, much like kpop, is a flexible and comprehensive art that can be enjoyed in many ways. | ||
