Se7en was really popular before going to America, but the thing is the Kpop industry has a really short attention span, so acts have to release things all the time or else risk being irrelevant. Even BoA, who was arguably the most popular act at her peak, has lost a lot of fans who have moved on. The fact of the matter is, you can't make it in America as an Asian without some kind of gimmick. Utada Hikaru, who speaks fluent English, who had the best producers behind her, Def Jam for the distribution and marketing, and arguably a bigger fan base than any kpop act, failed miserably. | ||

I doubt snsd will go all out in the US (yet) but an album release with or without english songs wouldn't really hurt them even if they don't sell a single copy. They are big in asia and every damn korean/ japanese/ every other country they are loved by will buy that album. | ||

In North America and Europe, every record label and artists understands that you make money off of concerts and not album sales... If KARA/SNSD or any of the really popular groups were to have a concert every month or so in Seoul, Busan + two or three places in Japan, they'd be guaranteed to sold out at every concerts and have a guaranteed profit every time. And by concerts I don't mean performing one song at a festival. Perform like 10-15 songs and charge 100$+ the ticket. | ||
