I like f(x) - amber. Amber doesn't belong in a girl group.

JYPE would have made so much more money if WG stayed in korea. JYP might be a fine producer, but he should stay out of the business end of the company. He's obviously a bad CEO.
^it's a gamble on JYPE's part. If they manage to make it in America then they'll make infinitely more money than if they stayed in Korea, but the thing is that it will be really hard. They've managed to chart a couple times but nowhere near the top, and the fact that there are still so many racists left in America will really hurt their sales. That and the fact that no one here is still into the girl group thing, and especially not the obviously corporate, simple/bubblegum brand that kpop is.
i loled at blaming racism in america for wonder girls failures. it could just be the fact that people don't want to hear engrish and shitty music in general you know?
The contract termination dispute between KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung against DSP Media has escalated into a legal battle.
On February 14th, representatives of the three members allegedly filed a lawsuit against DSP Media, asking the court to confirm that their three exclusive contracts were invalid. They claimed that their incomes were not distributed fairly.
Landmark previously sent notice to DSP Media regarding the termination of the three contracts on January 19th. Although the members resumed their scheduled activities, the two parties were not able to come to an agreement during their repeated attempts at reconciliation over the course of 25 days.
Through their head representative, the three members of KARA stated, “Without prior compromise, the agency deducted promotional fees from our income without our consent, which is classified under embezzlement. From January through June of 2010, we brought in $410,000 USD in income, while the promotional expenses amounted to $390,000 USD. The expenses are abnormally excessive.”
They continued, “Even when ‘Lupin‘ was at its highest point in popularity, DSP Media only paid $860 USD per member for a total of six months. The $140 USD that we were paid a month is unfair compared to the income that we brought in.”
The dispute’s escalation into a legal battle has caught both fans and industry representatives off guard, and many are speculating about what this could mean for KARA as a unit of five.

I'm not saying it's the only reason they're failing, but you can't deny that there's a subset of the American population, that when presented with an asian group singing, will hate on that group solely because they're asian. If you read the rest of my post you'll notice that I criticized kpop music in general as well. As for the engrish, I listened to the english version of some of their songs and if they can replicate that live (didn't take them 40+takes to get it right), then I don't think their english is that much of a problem.

If it's shitty music then kpop wouldn't have such a big following worldwide.

Although racism plays a role, their lack of english skills really kill them. Kpop is all about communication from the artists to the fans. Compared to American artists, kpop celebrities are much more accessible. They're humble, poor, and hard working; all of which are attributes that normal people share. That's part of the attraction of kpop. But if you can't even communicate with your fans, you can't do that. That's also why Kara is popular in Japan instead of SNSD. Kara actually goes on shows and communicates in Japanese with their host.

Pick me! Pick me!
Dun care about amber though. I just want them to release some new songs, I'm not the kinda fan that cares about the singers over their music =D.

Shitty music can often have huge followings... (Beiber?).
Honestly, the reason that kpop will never make it in america is because it's just cringe-worthy in the eyes of many people. There is a reason why the last generation grew tired of 'boy/girl bands'.

Kpop can eventually "make it" in the U.S. Of course not to the extent that it is perfectly assimilated into our culture, but it has the potential to be something more common place. Few years ago, I did not like K-pop because I simply didn't like the idea of listening to something I did not understand. However, watching starcraft streams, BW/GSL, I grew to like K-pop, and the culture surrounding it (variety shows, etc etc). Basically, you need to get people's attention to actually listen to the music with open ears.

Here's why Americans don't care.
Kpop has some popularity in America only because asians are ethnocentric.

Can you stop? Seriously? Why do you insist on spilling out BS without any proof? Here, I'll go through what I said and even give you images to prove it so you don't have any chance of missing out.
What I said:
Oh, and as a side note to correct more of your misinformation, SNSD had two #1 wins in the middle of "Tell Me" promotions so no, I don't think there was all that much of a dodge.
What I said: SNSD won #1 on two music charts during Tell me promotions. I didn't say they were ranked 1st, I said they had two number one wins. But it doesn't even matter if they were ranked first or last. Your assumption that SNSD dodged WG somehow because of WG's popularity is at least partly false. Because they promoted at the same time.
And before you go, HURR DURR SONE, the only reason I'm going through all this trouble is because I'm sick of your constant bashing and misinformation every time you post. We get it, you hate SNSD. Hell, I don't like SNSD that much myself. But can you stop spewing out completely wrong information and pretending that you know what you're talking about (i.e. - "I've been around for the good old days, they were so good I didn't even realize that ballad singers topped the charts consecutively for five years and I think that idols have always > singers lololol").

QFT...the Asian thing is so played out. Sure it's much harder for Asians to break through, but not impossible. I'm sure you guys all heard of Far East Movement and Jay Sean, both with #1 Billboard hits. The biggest issue is Kpop just doesn't translate to American music, which is more geared towards hip hop/electronic stuff these days. That's why it leads me to believe that 4Minute would be way more successful than the Wonder Girls, although the Engrish would be detrimental to them as well.
The biggest anomaly is how Latin artists are immune to the Engrish syndrome, I can't understand a damn thing Shakira says, and yet, she's insanely popular. Strange things
