Visually, my expectations are very high. not so much for story though. I'm hoping for an "Abyss Light"

Second half however, I couldnt forgive anymore. The predictability, the horrible dialogues, and some really, REALLY lame things (a mech warrior pulling a huge knife after losing its gun?) just had me facepalming, and no amount of visual splendour could compensate. In the end, I think everyone should just go and watch it for the insane visuals, its really worth it. If you can I think you should leave during the pause so you keep that "HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME" feeling, altho ofcourse no1 will manage that ^^ Stunning display of what's possible, but with the storyline of Pocahontas and quotes that could come from Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness it did leave me a bit dissapointed.

Awesome awesome graphics and I liked the whole story as well. I hardly take notice on those things people always criticize like most of the stuff Promises mentioned (unless it's super obvious of course) so I enjoyed it. I definitely felt for the characters, especially the actress that played Neytiri, I think she delivered a really good performance.

Story spoiler: + Show Spoiler + As for the story, I thought it was Dance with Wolves meets Dinotopia. Certainly a huge liberal bias, and as a result of that, I think it's not going to live up to the expectations of critics and general populace alike. If they had a story that was more sympathetic to humans (like Aliens), then I think people would identify with it a lot better.

you know what ? this is the Concord of the movies - as a movie its fucked up and flawed. But as a concept, its brilliant, its fresh, its revolutionary

I think identifying is not really a problem in this movie because the Na'vi are so much alike the humans. They're just bigger and they are blue. Apart from that they have the same kind of emotions and all that.

Avatar is a technical achievement - it opened the door and showed the way. It will inspire so many movies in the years to come and thats all that matter. The very fact that Avatar was made is a triumph of mankind. It takes the cinematic experience to a whole new level and from now on, Avatar will be the benchmark, when it comes to visual effects and entertainment. This movie is beyond what we thought was possible before, and just because of this , you should go and watch it in 3d
