Yeah, that's probably why she was in the dump anyway lol. She was good at cleaning and stuff, but she couldn't even read katakana. Lol.
Edit: I love how I just said that so casually. Like I can read katakana or something >.>

They don't pilot them, but the robots (called "Parents") are basically just servants. The girl in the show is an old model or something and actually kind sucks as a servant though.
There's a scene where she is trying to buy food for the main guy, and it costs 320 yen. So she takes the yen out of a coin purse and starts counting it. The shopkeeper guy points out that she is really slow. Then another Parents comes says that she wants whatever and is like "It'll cost 420 yen. So here's 1,000 yen. The change will be 580 yen." And the shopkeeper guy is like "See? That's how they're supposed to be."
They don't explain what her power source is because well, it's meant to be a cute slice of life OVA. If its that easily exposed, it couldn't possibly be Nuclear or Getter. Those things are known to destroy entire cities if they go critical. Maybe the robot is powered by a G Stone though. Does it have lots of COURAGE?
So that model is really slow in counting? Maybe its just an issue with its camera, that was keeping it from properly counting the coins. Like for example, in ZZ Gundam, the Zeta's main camera was damaged or something, so they replaced the head with a Zaku Head like this. The end result had most of the display in the cockpit blacked out. So maybe its some issue like that. They just need to replace the head.
Edit: Also, judging from that picture, the joints aren't very well protected. Probably prone to alot of breakdowns. And since its a female robot, shouldn't it be equiped with Breast Missiles? Did they just decide to not equip it with its primary weapon for some reason? Poorly protected parts, defective main camera, and lack of proper armament. I agree, that model does deserve to be in the trash.

I hate you, earthquake. Now I can't get my dose of Victorique this weekend!

Gosick got delayed...? I'm afraid to ask, but SRW or Freezing isn't delayed this week, is it?

Depends on the station that airs them, the timeslot and recent developments. I wouldn't count on a fast release at any rate.
Southlight: Do you still want to stream tonight or do you rather want to follow the coverage and contact more people?

I'm only waiting on one person Sigh, sigh. Hope she's okay, especially because she's super close with another of my friends, nyargh.
The only thing that'd stop me from streaming to be honest is my own sleep deprivation and later on possibly wanting to go play SC2 or something with friends, hahah.
Edit:
Funky enough, Index aired anyways, meanwhile one of my friends is saying he won't be able to watch Madoka until next week, lol.

That means SRW at least is on hold til Monday. Oh well, I guess it can't be helped.

I wouldn't mind it if you don't stream tonight. I'm pretty tired too and while I enjoy your streaming, I can understand that today might not the best day.
As far as I know, most shows that are scheduled to air on AT-X will be airing regardless (probably with an emergency broadcast overlay), so those should be released. Everything that is on the regular stations is uncertain or postponed.
|
My sleep deprivation has nothing to do with the quake, lol. More like I went to nap yesterday and ended up not really taking a nap, woke up at a crazy hour and haven't slept since. But either way I'm not really planning on sleeping any time soon, so... yeah. I'd leave it as a convenience thing for you. If you'd rather me not stream tonight I can postpone it or whatnot ;p
|
I guess that depends. Are there any other people interested in your stream tonight? I would feel bad if they want to watch your stream and I'm all "Nah, too tired right now". :/
I think I would prefer a stream tomorrow, because I'm really tired. (Of course only if you have time tomorrow and want to stream something.)
Somehow I feel like I'm ordering you around ("Stream for me!") :/

No clue, I'm fine with streaming tomarr instead.

Damn it, I was just drooling over some GitS and F/SN figures for kicks and giggles and I've grown depressed. How hard can it be to get yourself a figure? Well apparently, very hard outside of Japan.
First thing: Amazon.com has figures. Amazon.co.uk doesn't. Second thing: All the good/well made/nice figures are always ALWAYS on backorder/out of stock/preorder closed. FML threefold. Third thing: Online shops (mostly american ones) don't want to ship to Europe.
The prices range from like 40$ to 200$ and sometimes the 40$ ones look 10x better than the 200$ ones.
Do you guys buy figures? Would buying a figure classify me as an otaku? D: If you buy them, where from? Got any suggestions where I can acquire 1 or more with shipping to EU?
|
I'd suggest you take it up with the hobby and merchandise subforum at hongfire, but typically the easiest solution to your issue is to find ways to order online from Japanese stores to send to a proxy shipper for you, then have the proxy shipper send to you. Like mentioned at some point in the past, for large shipments of books and dvds, I go with Tenso. Proxy shippers are rather not economical when it comes to small amount of items though, but they are a good way to get around issues like getting games and figurines.
As for figures, I have a nendo Touko-senpai and a 1/8th Gahara-san, guess I am kind of stuck as an otaku for good.
Oh yeah, specialty shops like...um...wow completely can't think of any off the top of my head (gogo reliance on amazon) but yeah, those are most likely to have the lowest prices, but they also have a ton of hassle that comes with trying to order online with them.
EDIT - wtf $200, that's like, gunpla PG level prices, I don't think anything that isn't premium item or has been discontinued can fetch that high.

In that case I'm going to sleep soon. Unless I need to help clear up more of the miscommunication regarding the state of the nuclear power plants right now.
How the issue is presented in the media doesn't help at all. Seriously, a German news site tries to compare it to Chernobyl already with headlines like "Major nuclear disaster in Japan - Plant meltdown imminent".
...
I probably should go to bed.

Don't forget the huge markups on shipping costs. I don't know if he had included them in his original price estimate, but sometimes those are completely insane. It's even better when you buy something for 30$, have to pay 30$ again for shipping and get a notification that your order is held back by customs because you need to pay additional import tax and handling fees.
|
The way he worded it makes it sound like that is pre-shipping, at that, he is having trouble finding ways to ship, pretty sure he isn't counting that in the prices
Oh yeah, if there was ever a 1/8 or 1/7th Touko-senpai, I'd buy that rightaway. I am such a sucker
|
Well the highest I saw was 189.00$ USD(was some limited edition, I think...) and if you add shipping it'll probably add 20+ more.
Is there any difference between figures and figurines? As I googled around both, google didn't seem to make a distinction between the two.
Seems like figurines are released on commemorative occasions. Like the UBW Rin Tohsaka figurine or the Ghost in the Shell: Major Kusonagi Motoko 2nd GIG figure for their respective shows and if you're not a fan at that time and know, you're fucked for all eternity.
|
Figurines tend to be alot more expensive than Gunpla, in my experience. Maybe Perfect Grade Gunpla can compete, but overall Gunpla are alot cheaper. Most Master Grade Gunpla tend to be around $50, maybe a little more or less, depending on how much they are. Figurines on the other hand are tons more expensive, and most of the ones I've wanted were out of my price range. I have gotten a good deal on a pretty big Takaya Noriko figurine at AWA, and a small Cagalli figurine, but thats about it.

Dude, it's like a housekeeping robot. It's not made for defending its master.
Edit @ Latham (?): I got my Kshatriya model off Amazon for $55.
Also, my first thought when I heard about the 'quake was, "I hope all my favorite seiyuus/singers/etc. are okay!" Does that make me a bad person?

Don't pick on K-On! I just finished the first season and really enjoyed it. It's taking forever to DL the second season though because I can only DL one at a time. Also, I can't get the 10th episode to work which is driving me ape shit.
