I just finished "Deadman Wonderland" (all that is out yet) and it was AWESOME. I also like the first anime of Fullmetal alchemist a lot. So if anyone has some recommendations for stuff that is like those it would be very much appreciated. Have youseen school days yet? It's a thread tradition that new posters on this thread to watch it before asking for recommendations. Otherwise key amines are always reliable. Nah, it's not. So don't bother watching such a bad anime. its an excellent rom/com, its really cute with nothing shocking or unexpected, I don't see why you categorize it as "bad" Well, I did say that my last ones were DW and the first series of FMA so it really does not really suit my taste. I am more of a fan of rather dark Mangas but with likeable main characters and one guy said I should look into Wulf guy and it sounds potentially interesting so I'll start with that. If you have no problem with rather strong gore and like good stories you should definately try Deadman Wonderland. I only stumbled over it by chance and never really heard of it before but I could not stop after I started reading If you like dark stuff you'd love school days after that watch pmagical girl madoka magica

SD recommendations getting kinda old -_-
Edit: Dunno how to say it in English. しつこい。 Go Ecael, translate for me o/

"We've heard it a billion times already" (throw in eye roll and sighs as necessary)
You didn't ask for a single word definition

That works. I was thinking annoyingly relentless.

Dark anime:
Berserk(manga is better of course) Bokurano Claymore Elfen Lied Ergo Proxy(ok, didn't really like that one) Gunslinger Girl Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade Serial Experiments Lain Shigurui Texhnolyze X
Well, I'm not really sure what a "dark anime" exactly is but those anime should fit into that category and they are good. Some of them lack a likable main character though.
/edit:
Baccano!, Ghost in the Shell(first season) and Kara no Kyoukai are good as well, I guess they fit in there as well? And I heard Monster is pretty good, haven't seen it myself yet though. Someone should definitely verify my list.
/edit2:
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku Hen Noir
|
If you wanna read dark manga, check out Takahashi Tsutomu's stuff (MPD Psycho, Jiraishin, etc.). I still can't touch MPD Psycho because that shit traumatized me, sigh.
20th Century Boys and Monster (Urasawa Naoki) are pretty good, too.
There're so many good ones

it has dark humor in the story so think it would fit the general dark tone he is asking for.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica = Dark Anime Evangelion is Darkish but might find the Main unlikeable.

To continue...
Black Lagoon (both manga and anime, although the terribad Engrish in season 2 might kill you, as it did us all)
Pandora Hearts should be, at least the manga is; I heard the anime was fairly faithful, but the manga is incomplete so I can't guarantee the quality of that end.
07 Ghost is pretty dark but again I never watched the anime.
Shigurui, self-explanatory.
Vagabond (manga) is pretty dark but is also filled with much manliness.
Edit: Voices of a Distant Star
SaiKano (manga)
Darker than Black

Thanks so much guys. There are quite a few I haven't heard about so I'll have a lot of material for the next few months

Oh yeah, Toume Kei stuff, especially the older ones, are good for some depressing-ness. Lament of the Lambs in particular. I think nowadays she has a tendency to do more bizarre/mature ones though, like Sing Yesterday for Me, which isn't dark.
I dunno whether it counts as "dark" because it's cyberpunk but if you want a mindfuck, Tsutomu Nihei's stuff (Blame! Noise and Biomega) are pretty good o/
And of course, Kara no Kyoukai because no one else wants to say it.
Edit: Freesia manga is dark as hell too hahah.

How did Denpateki not get a mention for dark anime? Come on guys. D:
Shinigami-sama ni Saigo no Onegai wo is also pretty dark. It's my newest favorite manga.

Her skills are awesome though, so I moved her into that huge armored mech (forget the name <_<) so that she could actually use them without getting slaughtered.

France and Germany are the better heroines because they're not Tsundere? Well actually im not sure about germany, but i'm pretty sure France isn't

You should leave Tasuku in that IMO. I think I stuck Katina in the R-Gun or something. She at least dodges a bit better than Russel lol

But it sucks when you lost one of your best guys and had to restart the mission so you could keep him >.>
I hope that SRW doesn't have any extremely broken units like Fire Emblem did (Ike). This talk about Fire Emblem is bringing back memories lol. I used to run a rather large Fire Emblem forum with Harem (the Banling). Spazer, trying to beat that mission you are on and get the skill point was crazy. I mean, it wasn't even the Battleships that were the problem, it was the constant spam of reinforcements that would eventually get someone like Russel. But yeah, if you are afraid someone is going to die, and you can't allow that to happen, load them on the Hagane or Hiryu (whichever battleship you get on your Route). Luckily, once you get halfway through the game, you won't have to worry about Gespenst anymore, for the most part. Can't lose anyone for that S rank HHM brah. And what forum? I lurked a lot of FE forums back in the day =o Fire Emblem Fusion. The forum is just a shell of its former self now, and both me and Harem have since resigned from running it. But I remember all the insane Fire Emblem character debates that I used to take place in lol... Much completely useless and boring knowledge was gained.
