It was twenty minutes of the same damn thing (in shit quality), only for the last couple minutes to be different. -_- What a waste. Edit: Also, how could Kirino afford to send herself all the way to the US? That's not exactly cheap. Especially since she has a closet full of eroge and anime. I guess she's just that prolific of a model and author. >.< Only good things about this were seifuku Ruri, and the sexy ClariS OP. I hope they don't fuck up the other three eps.

Discussing Evangelion 2.22 below: So has anyone seen this? I know it doesn't come out on DVD for a little bit, but I just watched the Japanese version with subs through torrenting and I must say, I AM WOWED! If anyone is a fan of the Evangelion TV show, Comic books or movies, this movie Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance is a MUST SEE. This movie roughly takes place between episode 8 all the way through till End of Evangelion. I also recommend Evangelion 1.11 You are (Not) Alone which is out on DVD and Blu Ray. There will be one more movie following Eva 2.22 to finish up the story. spoilers below. + Show Spoiler + I wanted to discuss some major differences between the show and this movie. The first movie Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone is about 80% the same as the TV Series but this movie drastically changes the entire story. For starters, the movie begins with a battle between the 5th (is it 5th?) Angel and a new Evangelion, Unit 05 and a new pilot as well. The pilot is clearly american and I believe the reason the Angel attacked that base was because of Adam. This is made clear when Kaji leaves the base with what looks like a big case which is similar to the one he had in the TV series which contained Adam. Of course it's Adam because he delivers it to Gendo just like the TV series. But what did the Angel want with Adam exactly? This is a question I was trying to figure out but was never addressed in the movie, oh well. After the Angel is dispatched and Unit 05 is destroyed, a few events occur that mirror the TV series including Unit 04 being destroyed. However things are clearly not the same in the Anime, for example there is a new Eva (I believe it's unit 06?) being built in space and at the end of the movie it's made clear that it was created for the last Angel, Kaworu, but why Kaworu has an Eva isn't entirely clear. A HUGE difference is that Unit 03 is brought into Japan by force from the US and Touji isn't the pilot but Asuka is. Now this was strange to me but it began to make sense, rather than draw out another angel attack that puts Asuka in comatose they condense Shinji's rebellion and Unit 03 together. This is done beautifully well, I couldn't help but feel for Shinji because Asuka actually began to open up, unlike the TV show, and actually volunteered to pilot. It's interesting because on the surface it seems Asuka is doing this for herself but it's much deeper than that, she is doing it for Shinji. Asuka doesn't end up dying but is put in containment because there is a risk she was infected by the Angel, I'm interested to see how Asuka plays a part in the next movie. Why do you guys think the new American pilot snuck into Japan and then proceeded to pilot Unit 02 without Nervs knowledge? I'm not quite sure on this one and I don't know if it will ever be explained how she had access to Unit 02, could be irrelevant, could be important. Also I found it interesting that she was an adult, at least the dialouge suggested that and in the TV series only 14 year olds could pilot the Evas. Also the American pilot understands a lot more about the Evas than any of the other pilots, she activated a secret "Beast" mode that allowed it to surpass it's current form, almost mimicking Unit 01's awakened form. This is what I found so great about the movie, rather than having Unit 01 activate then have some episodes following, Unit 01 activates and begins 3rd impact. I like this change a lot and really sets it self up for the 3rd movie which is going to be all about instrumentality and Shinji's decision for the world. Although Shinji never gets to actually see Rei's dummys, I think he ends up finding out when he awakens and tries to bring Rei back. I believe this because Rei says something along the lines of "Don't worry, there will be a replacement" and rather than Shinji questioning this, he says something along the lines of "Nothing can replace you". There are a LOT of changes between this movie and the TV series and it's even a dramatic change from Evangelion 1.11 which was closer to the TV series. I thought I wasn't even watching Eva when I began the movie because of how different it was. I liked that the worlds oceans were red and that sea life couldn't exist outside the confines of quarantine. I particularly liked the changes in Angels, only a couple were similar to the TV series, Angel 7 which was the bomb Angel that appeared in space, after it discarded it's first AT field it took on the appearance of Sahaqiel the 10th Angel from the TV series. The other one was the 10th Angel which is similar to Zeruel the 14th Angel, the Angel where Unit 01 goes berserk in the TV show. I particularly loved what they did with the 10th Angel, it's design is just awesome and all of it's abilities were jaw dropping, this truly was the last and most bad ass angel before Kaworu, well done Gainax, well done. Anyways, I just wanted to discuss this movie because I hadn't seen a thread about it and I'm sure there are plenty of Eva fans out there. This movie is definitely worth checking out and I already am in contention with rating the two movies higher than the original Anime. We will have to see what Gainax can pull off, but I no it will be nothing short of amazing, they did a fantastic job with End of Evangelion, the 3rd and final movie will be a remake of that and I have a feeling it's going to be completely different. I only hope that the mass production Eva models are shown and ensue in the epic battle that was in End of Evangelion, but I don't think that will happen. Rather, we may see a battle between Shinji and Kaworu since he has his own Eva. Also, what is Seele going to do? Should be a great finale. There is a point in the movie where Kaworu sees Gendo and says "hello father", what could this mean? I know that Kaworu and Rei are similar and Gendo created Rei, but I'm trying to find the connection and why Kaworu would say that. Also at the VERY end of the movie, after the credits, Kaworu appears from the sky and says "Shinji, this time, I will make you happy." It suggests they've met before or they have some deep connection. Is Gainax merely messing with our minds? Is Gainax trying to say that the movies are actually a 2nd coming of Evangelion? What I mean by this, is it possible that Evangelion the TV show and End of Evangelion is the first Earth, and many many millenniums later when the earth is back to normal, somehow every human is reborn? I think it's a possibility but seems far fetched, Battle Star Galactica Finale anyone? + Show Spoiler + BSG ends where they find earth and it becomes our Earth as we know it, and robots are being made and history is repeating itself Anyways, I thought these points were pretty interesting and the magic of Gainax is there is always so much underneath the surface of their work that it's up to interpretation, meaning everyone has a different experience as art should be.

There's little details like the blood spatter on the moon, the SDAT being on track 27(?), etc. I'd look up the images with the supporting evidence, but I'm feeling lazy today. <_< @Ferrose: Watch the series, then EoE, then Rebuild.

Should I just watch the TV series or take the Nanoha route and watch the movies? watch the TV series first, then watch End of Evangelion (you can even skip the last two episodes of the TV series because End of Eva is basically a redo of that ending, a much needed redo). Then get the newer movies, 1.11 and 2.22 because those movies aren't finished yet and you might not understand what the hell is happening. Of course, the movies are supposed to stand on their own, but I think the Anime does a bit better job of helping you understand the basic concepts of the show, the movies just go right into it, expecting you to know the terminology and basic story.

Simply because the 2nd half of the movie is the 1st half of End of Evangelion, or at least parts of it. I know that Rebuild was released in America before End was, so maybe that was just America being stupid with their releases, but yeah I watched Rebuild a long time ago and never bothered with it again because it's kind of a summary of the TV show, but I could be wrong, haven't watched rebuild in quite some time.

I mean, I think he's worse than Shinji but some(most) people obviously don't think so ;p so you can imagine. That's the biggest reason that I haven't watched Evangelion, tbh. I raged enough at F/SN. I don't want to go through that again with Evangelion.
