I really hope that i can hold myself back and not watch Golden Kamuy season 4 and fumetsu no Anata e weekly. Would love to binge watch it in January... (same goes for Mairimashita, chainsaw, spy x family, mob psycho and MHA, but not in the same extend). ... My guilty pleasure will be Peter Grill season 2 i guess lol Manage to hold back and then binge later is a true test of willpower
After you have had enough of bullshit cliffhangers watching weekly shows it will become easier.
Speaking of cliffhangers: Why did Edgerunners have cliffhangers between episodes? It didn't even release weekly, so what's the point? Anyways, I have finished it and enjoyed it. It had some flaws, the major one was addressed by Manitou in the spoiler below. All in all it's a 7/10 for me. The english dub was on point imho.

I think the CDPR/Trigger team-up was a great idea on this one as it probably made the process of creating this anime much easier. You have all the lore and setting in place so the story writers could just focus on the main plot and characters, plenty of assets from the production of the games (both tabletop and PC) like sketches, drawings and such which probably allowed to cut down on time and cost of some of the background work and animations and last but not least access to the game's soundtrack and sound effects which also helps with that and makes it more rich than your typical anime production. Overall a great piece of work. Would love to see more series like that coming from such team-ups. Probably better to do short stand-alone series like this one to mix it up instead of dragging something over multiple seasons though. I think this show had just one problem: + Show Spoiler + Time jumps in David's arc. It's a pretty focal point of the story and we get to see him at 0, 50 and 100 so all the major story beats and plot points are there but we don't really see him at 25 or 75 so the transition feels a bit jarring and not as impactful as it should be. They could definitely give us 2 more episodes for that, so we get to see the time when he's no longer a rookie but not a fully chromed street samurai yet and then when he begins to push his limits and begins to struggle with the onset of cyber psychosis. That's really the only thing this show is missing to be fully fleshed out.
+ Show Spoiler +Definitely agree the show would have benefitted a lot from a few more episodes. To get some more development for David and the new crew. Also to get some more time for David and Lucy together. I feel like they didn't have enough time to talk and develop together.

I don't think it not being week-to-week means that the need for cliffhangers is gone. There is still a need because Netflix wants/needs people to BINGE, like watch all of it in a setting so the cliffhangers make it so people keep watching.

Why is that important for netflix? I don't get it.

How good are the Spy Family OP and ED this time around? I thought cour 1 was okay, but these two are fantastic, both great sounds and fantastic animation

Made in Abyss S2 is even more brutal than S1

I stopped at ep 7? It wasn't as bad but I KNEW it was coming. And I just don't have the heart. I love the series. But man...I just can't.

Just watched the first episode of the final Bleach arc. Amazing. I think this is going to be the best arc ever (if they let Kubo have his way and don't manga this season)

I am kinda happy this got adopted. This is one of the better romance manga i read imo
Alot of decent romance manga been adopted lately. Doll Bisque and Couple of Cuukos. Kinda happy with this trend that it isn't all isekais at this point (although i did watch the uncle from another world isekai and it was surprisingly good)

There are some pretty good shows this season:
Golden Kamuy - glad to see this amazing series is back with more Hinna. Probably best show of the season for me.
Yojouhan Time Machine Blues - A short OVA, but seeing that Yojouhan Shinwa is one of my favorite animes, I have rather high expectations for it.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - it's an AU gundam universe, we'll see whether it gets good.
Tensei shitara Ken Deshita - one of the better isekai novels gets an adaptation.
Akiba Meido Sensou - I originally wasn't planning on watching this, but it was recommended to me. Lol, it's a story about crime syndicates in maid cafes. Really hilarious show by PA works. I didn't see that last time I went to Akiba. Maybe, next time I'll be on the lookout and see if I can spot them in action.
Later on there is also Fumetsu no Anata and Urusei Yatsura remake, hasn't aired yet though.

The season is so incredibly stacked. Outside of the big ones (Bleach, Mob, MHA, Chainsaw Man, Spy Family, Blue Lock etc.) there's so many amazing shows. Bocchi the Rock, DIY, and Eminence in Shadow are some really big stand outs already. But I could honestly sing the praises of a dozen shows easily this season.

This is a fun season so far. I think probably second best, or maybe third best behind that season where we got a ton of sequels several seasons back. Aside from the animes mentioned above, a couple of other animes that are/promise to be a great watch:
Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita - another otome anime, but this one has a pretty fast pace and the MC is quite bold. Feels like we finally have an MC who at least acts somewhat normal lol. A contrast to bakarina in some ways.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun - 3rd season of Iruma-kun, which always delivers.

A rare season where there can't be "worst season ever" memes without trolling. And even then... This season is packed.

I'm not trolling if I say this is a bad season for me. Not sure about it being "the worst" but if there is only a single show I'm even remotely interested in and that show is a sequel then I can't really say it's a good season...
//edit: I'm wondering though: Where's the hype for boats s2? This thread used to be different, lol.

I'm at ep7 now. Do you mean + Show Spoiler +them eating soup made out of babies? It hasn't been revealed yet but the hint was very clear... or something else?

I do plan on watching Kancolle S2, but it's not particularly something I'm hyped about. Still not out yet so I forgot to mention it.

I have finished Made in Abyss s2 just now and holy hell, what a trainwreck. I can't believe the anime I liked so much during s1 was turned into an over-the-top edgy shit fest. Actually, most of those elements were already present in s1 but much better dosed and the focus was more on the adventure. In s2 the adventure was completely thrown out and all the bad elements were turned up to 11 and the focus was turned on them. The last few episode were a pain to get through...

Potential sleeper hit this season might be Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow). Really enjoying it so far. Got a bit tired of all those crybaby MCs in so many shows recently...
|
Eminence in Shadow is fantastic. Cid's commitment to the bit in both his day and night personas are insane in the best way. There's way way too much good anime this season, its tied my most shows per season at 17.
