Does anyone want to put out candidates for highest quality animation in a movie or series?
I haven't seen the movie yet but in my experience, ufotable's animation is usually quite decent but they make it seem like it's the best animation ever by using shaders and effects very effectively. From a pure animation point of view, they are usually cutting corners. That said, it may be different for the movie, I don't know.
For me, the movie which went far beyond anything else I have ever seen in terms of animation is Redline. As for other movies, Ghibli movies usually have incredible animation. The first Ghost in the Shell movie and Akira were pretty damn good as well. Oh and Sword of the Stranger.
As for series, which usually are a few steps below movies, P.A. Works did some good work. I personally remember Canaan and Uchouten Kazoku as series with great animation.

Redline is best animated anime period
Just talking frame by frame here, if you don't like it's stylistic choices that's one thing, but I genuinely can not think of a movie or series that has as high quality animation from start to finish
AND IT'S FUCKING HAND DRAWN
Every single second of Redline feels overly animated compared to your average anime, it's such a passion project it's hard to really compare it to most things
Redline was released several years later than originally planned. Its development took seven years and used 100,000 hand-made drawings

Echoing Redline, easily the best animated production I've seen.
Ufotable in actual animation isn't really THAT great, but they use a whole lot of visual trickery to make it look really good, if that makes sense.

Ninja Scroll for me is probably one of the unsung heroes. Redline is damn good. Princess Mononoke is another contender.

The train arc isn't that long. The following missions with each Hashira isn't that long in the manga as well. So if they're going to give each Hashira a movie, that's going to be...weird to me. In the manga, things begin to move pretty quickly. I don't think they need to go this route.
BUT, I'm fully onboard no matter what because this season of KnY has been amazing. I prefer a new season but a per movie arc sounds KnK like which is probably fine (based on most of what i saw from the manga ). Tbh i just ufotable to adapt KnY more. They made the manga even more impressive how good it only should be. Also i can't believe that KnY has such insane pacing and well actually felt like balanced powerlevels(which says alot for a shounen manga) Show nested quote +On October 01 2019 20:46 Aznupdown wrote: Been trying to watch steins gate. Can anyone tell me at what episode I need to reach before it gets good? Its ok so far but slow pace for me. Around episode 8 from my experience.

Saw Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl today, the movie sequel to Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Kinda felt like a long-form episode, but it still played with emotions. Elements of the plot do get a little confusing after a certain point due to a fairly common plot device.

Alright.
Loli Lane anime of the year.
I'm glad the Chinese finally pulled it together and showed us the key to saving anime. Lolis.

finished watching gacha anime ep1. Looked pretty good, they focused on all the important parts so we got tons of shots zooming in on mashu's and ishtar's asses and the fights looked decent enough. For anyone curious, the little cat...fox...whatever Fou is supposed to be is voiced by the the VA for Artoria. She's literally getting her paycheck just for being in there and voicing that thing which is hilarious imo Also Sakurai Takahiro has like 2 seconds of voice in this entire episode and nails those handful words more than anything else done VA-wise this episode. The guy is so good it's unreal.
