And yea Shield Hero reminds me a lot of Dragon Ball Z with how much talking goes on during the action scenes, but at least they finally put to rest a major internal monologue topic for Naofumi so we won't have to keep revisiting it.

1: Don't think konosuba is funny 2: Think the animation is an eyesore so bad the show is unwatchable 3: Both of the above I'm a very firm 3 myself, but yeah that could be why it's not mentioned much Plus it's been a while since it aired

Also, the DBZ comparison, while not fitting in general is apt for the specific thing he metioned. Spazer also mentioned it last week with a Spirit-bomb comment

Konosuba is/was funny enough to allow for subpar animation.

From its synopsis it sounds like a hyper-violent, pseudo-medieval tale reminiscent of old pulp works like Conan the Barbarian. I didn't know unremitting brutality against designated "bad guys" in a seinen manga was enough to warrant complaints - it sounds par for the course in its category. didn't watch it but from what I heard it's because + Show Spoiler + the group got into a fight with goblins in a cave, it turned bad and one of the girls got raped by goblins people argued that if you only watched the promo material without reading synopsis or knowing what the series is about it looked like a "normal" fantasy story without the brutality being apparent. So people who watched it blindly complained about it and Crunchyroll added a warning before ep1 to make sure people know what kind of show it is.

The 1st episode that established the "threat" goblins can pose showed a newbie party getting massacred by goblins, including one getting raped and maybe another being attempted? It was graphic so it either turned people off or interested people based on how much grit you want in a show. However the latter group got disappointed because the darkness goes down a lot and it becomes more standard and less gory from there so they felt lied to and the 1st ep was seen as cheap shock value to draw people in.

Goblin rape is a running thing in the show, so it wasn't just one girl lol

How did no one here tell me how fucking hilarious Konasuba is. I only started it because of Isekai Quartet and it's fucking incredible. I binged the whole thing in a day and I laughed my ass off. And yea Shield Hero reminds me a lot of Dragon Ball Z with how much talking goes on during the action scenes, but at least they finally put to rest a major internal monologue topic for Naofumi so we won't have to keep revisiting it. Konosuba is amazing. I did a quick rewatch of the first season the other day, hasn't lost its charm at all. One of the best, if not the best comedy that I've come across from everything I've watched so far. As for why, it aired ages ago so naturally, unless you ask about it, no one will bring it up (most talk in here is seasonal with the occasional monogatari or w/e else is popular). Maybe one other time comes to mind at best?

Indeed, though tbf, have they actually showed more than the beginning? Maybe one other time comes to mind at best? It gets heavily implied and talked about later on but it's never shown again. Although in the final farm battle they do use naked women as human shields which can only be assumed are victims that have been subjected to all kinds of misery since being abducted by the Goblins. The rape in Episode 1 just sets up why the Goblins are so worth being afraid of and also to help explain why someone would be dedicating their entire life to eradicating them wherever possible.

Because it's exploitation fiction that also use uninspired tropes. The idea of the story and characters had a lot of potential but threw it all away by relying on cheap writing techniques.
