Or maybe his parents should've paid better attention to their child instead of suggesting that this game is to blame. Hell the game even goes out of its way to warn you about its content. If this kid killed himself over the game there were probably bigger and deeper issues to begin with.
It's like this kid i read about that supposedly became super obese after getting hooked on a video game and the parents just blame the game for making the kid addicted (we're talking like a 12 year old child here) and i feel like it's too easy to just blame the game instead of blaming the parents for letting it get to that point. If i had sat on my room and refused to go out and get any exercise because i wanted to play a game my parents would've cut the internet and removed my computer and consoles.

Totally agree with you Unleashing. It sort of reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Ned Flander's parents go to a specialist for Ned and his temper and say "We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas". It seems to be easier for these parents to blame other things as a scapegoat instead of realising that their child may have had issues before hand that lead up to his suicide and that it was their responsibility to see these things as the child's parents instead of turning a blind eye since they were "too busy" with their own daily lives.

I'm sure everyone here gets that. There's just nothing we can really do about it. Just got to be the good parent one day that cares instead of blaming everything else.

Just finished Megalobox. The ending was a disgrace to everything leading up to it. Too many cutaways. Should have been 23 minutes of just fighting in the ring. Left a nasty taste in my mouth about how it all wrapped up.

I liked the show and the other fights, but I also thought the ending fell flat and weak.+ Show Spoiler + It felt like they were building up to the same tragic ending as Ashita no Joe, but then tried to subvert it with a sudden, surprisingly wholesome epilogue. It ended up just feeling cheap and betrayed the hype.

Agreed. They left the ending of + Show Spoiler +someone on a stretcher only to show Yuri and Joe in a bromance. I was like...who was on the stretcher!!! Why didn't we get the awards ceremony!?! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!

Guys, spoiler please!
I do agree that they + Show Spoiler +should've given us more fighting, but it seemed like they wanted a portion of the episode to show how other things developed (Shirato's business, Joe's companions etc...). I have no clue who ended up in the hospital and I thought for a moment that they killed Joe until they showed him talking with Yuri then it was like hmm, wonder if it was Yuri who just couldn't keep standing up anymore and Joe won the fight (confirmed by him later).
I do agree for sure that we needed a few more minutes of the fight and if they killed Joe for a good reason or even Yuri, it would've been fine (body rejected it and he only managed through willpower etc...). However, if all they showed is them punching each other back and forth for minutes on end, I can see some folks complain about that. There's also a good chance that they ran out of budget haha and decided to just give up bits and pieces before it finished. I'm thinking this is more likely the case+walking a long-term conclusion etc...
Tada-kun: I actually felt a bit disappointed by the ending. I typically like endings where all parties feel happy and things feel resolved, but for whatever reason, the ending felt a bit disappointing. + Show Spoiler +We've already had them both close that chapter. Tada confessed finally and Teresa, despite liking him, has already spoken about being a princess and accepted everything etc... Yes, Charles stated that he wants her to be happy and we know she has feelings for Tada-kun, but even then, her running off to him makes it seem like she's neglecting her duties as Larsenburg's princess.
For me, it feels like the anime glossed over that bit which is huge for the purpose of a "happy ending". If there was a season two that addressed this, showing Tada being introduced to her parents, learning Larsenburg's traditions, them getting together and growing etc... then it's a lot more acceptable. It's just a bit hard to believe that her parents and everyone else just accepted her new found love when it was obvious that some like Alec were extremely hesitant.
Hinamatsuri: I thought we still had one more episode and I was looking forward to the meeting only to find out that it concluded last week lol. Still, it was a fun watch, even if a bit weird overall.

Man darling in the franxx is getting rushed big time

On July 01 2018 14:13 Grettin wrote: Man darling in the franxx is getting rushed big time They went full Diebuster. The pacing felt super slow up until several episodes ago, but I guess Trigger+A-1 were too eager to go full Gainax on that final act.
On the other hand, I thought GGO had a strong finish. A good amount of humor and savage loli violence to round out a surprisingly enjoyable show.

Season wrap up time I guess.
It was expected, but LoGH ended in a pretty questionable spot. It's basically mid-arc, but there isn't enough tension to be an effective cliffhanger. It's unsatisfying. Overall, the show was okay. Just not OVA-tier.
Build Divers is meh. All the break decal stuff was a waste of time. + Show Spoiler +The entire climactic battle was effectively against nameless mooks. Why would you do that? There was zero tension in all of those fights.
Ayame is one of the better characters, but my god her backstory sucks. KO1 had the potential to be good, but he just gets ignored for some reason.
90% of mobile armor fights suck. This one was no exception.
That said, I will give them credit for is the NTD scene. That was nicely done. Ep 13 was almost a return to form, but it still wasn't that good of a fight. Even ep 0 was better. S1 was a love letter to fans. S2 was a blatant cash grab. S3 is a literal children's show.
Hinamatsuri was a decent adaptation. Also, Hina sucks.
Franxx is a fucking trainwreck. It's like they didn't plan on having the second half of the show. + Show Spoiler +What's the point of rushing the romance and love triangle drama when you're just gonna replace it with a half-assed sci-fi story?
Abandoned plotlines abound. The Nines got built up as antagonists but got written off for some reason. Zorome/Miku and Futoshi/Ikuno got maybe 10 minutes of development each before getting ignored.
The Mitsuru/Kokoro plotline is probably the best thing to come out of the show. For a studio lauded for its animation, the fights are also seriously lacking.
GGO was okay, but it pandered far too much for my liking. Pito in particular was awful. Definitely wasn't what I was looking for.
Golden Kamuy was solid, CG bears aside. The setting and characters are both great.
Lupin gonna Lupin.
FMP's still trucking, but my favorite parts have now passed. BOMF was pretty good~
I'll miss Hozuki.

It's unbeliable how well-made the badminton scenes are in Hanebado!! :O

Honestly, I spent most of the season thinking "this isn't that good, but any time now there's gonna be some twists and it will end up being brilliant". Turns out that no, the twists made it worse.

I really don't understand why you guys keep talking about franxxx to be honest. Is it really popular or something?
I means when someone talk about megalobox or legend of galactic heroes, I don't watch it, but they give some sort of reason on what interested them, or what attracted them to it, but for franxxx, I get the impression that theres a big following somewhere, becuase, why exactly are you all so intrested in it?
|
It was one of the most watched in its starting season and it probably kept a lot of viewers going into spring so it's probably one of the more watched things that has been airing this year. Probably top 5 in terms of viewers if i had to guess.
I thoroughly enjoyed franxx up until episode 13 where it peaked, episode 14 was awful and episode 15 felt rushed and since then it has just progressively gotten worse. I began watching it for the mecha and fanservice originally.

Latex body suits and horned waifu bait. I mean I don't watch but the fanart is pretty great. Normally you find there's a show each season that just captures that kind of attention. Has decently high production values, fairly interesting story with some kind of "hook" and waifu design that captures peoples attention.
I don't know how good Franxx is but it's popularity definitely checks off all the normal stuff you tend to see each season. If this type of show is good that's normally more a bonus than sticking point. I remember some mecha show a few years back that felt very similar, I forget the name. Aldermine?

man GGO was a shitshow. Pito genuinly is the worst character I've seen in years. Not even exaggerating here. I'm sure there are characters out there who have been worse but I at least didn't watch those shows~
I still maintain that if they had never tried to be serious and just maintained the meme-game it would have been a good series at least from a comedy point of view. That last episode was honestly pretty good if you ignore everything storywise. The ride in the car, the jokes, the faces and grenade-girl in particular was pretty funny. Also p-chan2 at it again. Those to me were the strong points of the series, or rather the only things the show did decently and I think they should have just done that more without trying to make this pito-girl into a "proper" character (which failed horribly).

I began watching it for the mecha and fanservice originally. yeah that. Exactly feel the same but I haven't seen the last episode yet. The 2nd cour has been really questionable for me. I don't think we guys on TL are the only people thinking that way so it probably took quite a hit viewer-wise during it's 2nd cour and as a result I do question the "5th most popular/5th most watched" a bit. That would have probably been true had ep14+ been as good as episode 1-13. As it stands I'm going to assume a lot of people dropped it although I don't have any information to back that up.
|
I mean its dropped statistics aren't any different from comparable shows with similar viewership, so i think most people are sticking around to see how it ends. The torrents also aren't being downloaded significantly less than they used to.
