The characters are average people just living out their lives in this totalitarian world built in the name of 'equality'. For the main characters it's just business as usual, they're just living out their slices of life as per usual, but for us the viewer a lot of the shit that's normal for the main characters is like something out of a dystopian novel with death penalty for thought crimes or victimless crimes. I've seen people who want the main characters to be more upset at the state of the world, but that's not really the point, they're just teenage girls living in the world as it is, they're not looking to change it. I understand why some people have a hard time with that though, everytime a story focuses on worlds and settings like this the story is 99% of the time about trying to change it for the better, not just accepting that this is the world you live in, for better and for worse. I have a lot of mixed thoughts on the series as a whole, but it's at least unique. Wonder if the anime is gonna get to the really fucking weird stuff. Edit: Netflix is gonna license Violet Evergarden apparently and again they're gonna wait 3+ months before they release it outside of japan. God bless the revival of fansubs i guess, i guess we can thank netflix for that. I had forgotten what good typesetting in my seasonal anime felt like.

![]() I'm open for suggestions on what to make him watch. Don't want it to be cruel this year though so I'm already thinking about just making him watch Gamers or something like that.

Whether he has got shit taste or not he is going to suffer regardless, lol. //Synopsis Nine centimeters (3.5 inches) tall, the tiny girls Hakumei and Mikochi live in the forest. Living in a tiny house in a tree, riding insects and birds, and making umbrellas out of leaves, these tiny girls live a tiny life. Follow their tiny but lovely lives as they live their day to day in a fantastic world of tiny people and gods. Holy shit this synopsis sounds fantastic! :D

The Animation and Kämpfer before which made me realize how much of an asshole I must have been in making him watch whatever it was that I told him to watch... so slightly on the trashy side would be fine or just something straight up okay that he might enjoy if he hasn't watched it yet. Emnjay tends to like trashy stuff, so many make him watch something good. Bonus points if its something older than 10 years since those trigger him

It's also not very good. It covers a lot of topics, but doesn't actually show anything worthwhile. I appreciate the intent, but it's way too shallow. At least ID-0 from last season covered some interesting concepts, even if it didn't stick the landing. Shoukoku no Altair feels... juvenile? I want to like this show based off of the setting alone, but the MC is really irritating. Sure, he's supposed to be rash because he's young and inexperienced, but if that's the case, how'd he become Pasha in the first place? It's particularly strange because he seems to have zero political backing. Dive is going pretty hard on the whole "pro sports requires sacrifices bit". Which is pretty neat, because I don't see that doesn't get touched on very often. The drama is a bit much though. Apoc is shaping up to be worse than DEEN's FSN. That's impressive. I don't know what to make of Centaur no Nayami. Sometimes it's a standard sol, but occasionally they stray into some really weird territory. I thought 18if was a decent show this season. While the last episode wasn't that great (The ending sure was interesting, but it feels like the 'moral' of the story is pretty weak).

Where the show falls flat is the actual execution. + Show Spoiler [18if] + Episode 1 was largely fine until the resolution came about. Episode 2 was weird. The question being posed in this episode is clearly a moral one, but they don't actually do a lot of talking about morality. It felt like they were just going through the motions for this one. Episode 3 was a cliche romantic tragedy. Not much to talk about there. Episode 4 was about eating disorders. That's a pretty rare topic in anime. The problem is, it didn't say anything interesting at all. Eating disorders are debilitating and eat for your own enjoyment? That's it? It didn't help that the MC swoops in and solves the whole thing in roughly 10 seconds. Episode 5 was basically "I want a normal life" followed by "No you don't". I'm not looking for answers from the show - what I want are interesting ideas and interesting discussion. Episode 2 came the closest, but it still didn't manage to scratch that itch. Also the pacing kinda blows.

I think both FMA and Yotsuba& are amazing and stellar in their own genres but i don't really think i could compare the two because of just how different they are. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
