I will probably rewatch SnK next year when the second season is close to the finish line. Will see how your statement holds true then.
Did I miss something or when did Rei start losing? Are they talking about the past? Or did they make a time-skip from last episode? I'm a little confused right now...
It was in the past, wasn't in? When he was ok with stagnating? Thing is, the high school scene with the teacher on the stairs seems to suggest its the present. Definitely confusing.
I think it's in the current. The story just didn't show the matches. Some time has passed since he played his fat buddy and now most likely. He's been stagnating for awhile now as well. If he didn't have Akari, her family and his fat buddy then there'd be no impetus for him anyway. We've seen him as a person but now I guess the story is showing that it's not just his emotions/person that is suffering, his Shogi is as well.
Earlier in I think ep 2 he spoke about how he drowned himself in Shogi just so he could survive and now we see more into that reason. He's survived so what is Shogi to him now?
hmm fair enough. Makes sense overall. It's quite an interesting story. + Show Spoiler +
Started playing Shogi to get some time with his dad, even lied about liking it however, all his family is killed and he's left to fend for himself. After being taken in by his friend's dad, he fractures the family and decides to go all in so that he can move out and leave on his own. Now that he has achieved this goal, his game has stagnated so guess it's only nature that he decides what to do next. Of course, he is still suffering silently like Akari's family is, rough :/
My suspicion is that he'll realize that he needs to move forward at some point, maybe after something happens. Wonder if he'll start loving the game. That's when he starts making it up the ranks. Doubt there is enough time to get him to win some tourney or something (like that top guy who was defending three titles).

Nah, I dropped it pretty early on because that child was boring as fuck. As said, a cute appearance alone doesn't carry a show.
Pfft typical anime putting two close heterosexual females together in ambiguously gay situations while never having intention of either being homosexual. I'd much rather stick with Ufo2 where you have clearly two lesbian girls that are in love with each other.

More than just 2. There's at least like 3 pairs now.
How could I forget Nozomi and Mizore as well as Yuuko and Natsuki!
Finished off SnK. Meh. It's not great but it's not awful. The interesting experience for me is how much I remember the non-mecha being a part of it but in fact the show goes full mecha in like 8 episodes. Quite amazing how the mind can warp perceptions like that. I knew in my head it had serious pacing issues but man it's way worse than I remembered in that regard. Most of the show is just wasted filler "politics" that are barely interesting for fleshed out in any way. It's like a kids take on politics. Although with how Western democracy is going maybe that IS politics..

While I agree that the child is a bit annoying at times (mostly because I keep thinking how he's a tanuki acting as a child lol), it's been a pretty enjoyable watch.

Granted i hear it's rage inducing to read. So who knows if you'll enjoy it.
there's also
Naoko Kodama's Yuri Manga NTR: Netsuzou Trap Gets TV Anime in 2017
for him and goody.
The visual in the anime's official website has the text, "We have a secret we can't tell our boyfriends."
The announcement also revealed the anime's cast for the male characters, including Daisuke Ono as Fujiwara, Hotaru's boyfriend who suspects the relationship between Hotaru and Yuma, and Ryota Ohsaka as Takeda, Yuma's boyfriend.
yeah that's the issue for me as well... but OnoD + those visuals... I think I'll give it a shot. That being said I've heard that one of the girls in particular is really awful if you don't like this kind of thing. So I'll probably drop it within 2 or 3 epsiodes

What you don't like anime where the protagonists are scumbags that cheat on their SOs and it's played off as a sweet discovery of love? What a shocker.

Uh, Citrus is just really bad. The problem is the inconsistency with its progress. One day they almost have sex and kiss and all that shit. Next day the MC is brooding all the time over the question if the other girl actually hates or likes her, lol. It makes very slow progress over a few chapters and then resets. It also an active-agressive try at NTR, so there is that. So after 22 chapters there is next to no progress and all that's left is some yuri fanservice every few chapters. Pretty weak if you ask me.

It looks like it'll be a travesty that will just have lots of throwback scenes to try get fans all hyped, ala Star Trek into Darkness. That said the visuals look quite nice.
Major "recovering" her memories and calling herself the major. Wtf man. Sounds like a superhero movie instead of the sociopolitical sci-fi story GitS has mainly been(Arise why?><).
In other news started watching Nodame. Can tell their budget went into the music lol. Still been fairly enjoyable so far.
