Should I rewatch Anohana, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, the original Evangelion or No Game No Life? Your Lie in April is a pretty good show in my opinion. The characters can seem weak and the pacing isn't the best but the emotional payoff is pretty strong and the evolution of the characters is believable. It also helps that the music is insanely good and the animation quality is ratcheted up to match. That said, if you hated it enough after watching the whole thing to give it a 1, perhaps you and I have fundamentally different tastes. I can understand how the ending could leave a bad taste in your mouth, and I can also understand that maybe you don't sympathize with the main character at all. I also liked Evangelion but it's been a long time since I've watched it the whole way through so I don't really have much to say in its defense. I haven't seen the other two, but I've heard Anohana is similar in tone to Your Lie in April so maybe you just strongly dislike sad stories? I dunno.

Somewhat related, is Euphonium appealing beyond the moe aspect? I think I'm the only guy in here who doesn't like it. In that sense can't really talk about it since dropped around ep5 but I'd assume it's more than just moe considering how everyone and their dog was gushing about how amazing it is

I don't get that lol. Seems like you have lot looser criteria for giving something a 1 then I do, as I give out very few 1s and 10s. If you want to rewatch the above you can watch Eva to see the anime that had a lot of influence (I like the reboot movies, maybe you could try those? Tho who knows if we will ever get the 4th one). Shigatsu for some nicely set up animation and music, Anohana I guess for a couple of nice emotional scenes, and NGNL for some entertainment and girls.

It's funny you say that, because I just look at Robotics;Notes and my faith plummets. Somewhat related, is Euphonium appealing beyond the moe aspect? Depends on what you mean by that. I thought the show was entertaining despite the drama and romance both being pretty bad. It's also certainly no K-ON. Good times. I wasn't really a fan of the chess game the first time it happened and liked the other things more but for some reason I just burst out into laughter when rewatching that during the scene when Sora takes over with the speech and all. I really lost it and rewatched that scene at least 3 times. I don't really know why not that I'd recommend anyone to rewatch it who scored it a 1 though

What about Euphonium do you find appealing? From the video, I would think that the character interaction drives the show. Kinda reminds me of what appealed to me about Bakemonogatari.

That was the best scene in the series along with the umaku naritai scene. You'll likely find yourself bored most of the time tbh.

Roughly, the way I rate is if something tries to be an emotional anime and fails to move me in any way emotionally, I give it a super low rating because it failed its purpose. With anime like Eupho, there's a lot less emotional stuff like that, so I can enjoy it more

Kinda reminds me of what appealed to me about Bakemonogatari. K-ON is arguably the most (in)famous moe sol to date. Generally speaking, I like Kyoani's direction and art/animation. The problem is that the vast majority of the works they adapt are utter shit. In short, I liked Eupho because the writing wasn't bad for me to hate it. The bar is pretty low here. Frankly, I can't think of anything impressive Kyoani has done writing-wise since TSR or Disappearance.

Vol 17 of S&W has plenty enough for me.+ Show Spoiler + Has multiple pics of them kissing and has stuff like them flirting together while in the bath together and Holo literally throwing a banquet to show off being pregnant to her "rivals". Was glorious. Not to mention the pics of Holo in a wedding dress. I was talking about 16, oops. Epilogue has that but it's an epilogue! Not even full holo book. Epilogue should be a send off not take the conclusion. Shouldn't have to wait until post the conclusion of the series to finally get the physical aspect of the relationship. That ending moment just arg, so sweet but why didn't just kiss right then. All the build up then bam nothing. Maybe it's fine and I'm just frustrated at the massive blue balls.

The hate for Shigatsu has probably nothing to do with dislike for sad stories. For me, Shigatsu wasn't even sad since I couldn't connect with the characters at all. It just screamed "hey, I'm a sad story, please cry!" and I was like nope, don't feel like it. Shigatsu's problem was it's miserable writing in the character department and their ridiculous interaction as well as the missplaced comic relief. It's not a 1/10 though. The production quality is way too high and when they are playing music it's pretty good, so... On October 05 2016 14:07 Toadesstern wrote: I recently rewatched NGNL. Good times. Gunbuster and Diebuster both did it with their respective endings, for example.

I'm not moved easily so i've only cried like 5 times after ~100 days worth of A/M/LN/VN (One piece, Hunter x Hunter 2011, Koe no Katachi Oneshot, Eve no Jikan and Muv Luv Alternative) but some people apparently cried that many times in a single show. Maybe I'm just dead inside or something. I cry at everything :<. Cry when Holo says she loves him. Cry when Senjou lays it bare for araragi. Cry when Elend and Vin get married. Cry like once per Malazan book. Worst I think anime has hit me is still prob either Shinsekai when the red haired kid appeared or LoGH after Yang scene. I felt physically ill after that scene. Nowadays I just stay away from sad stuff... Just open that cold heart!
