I think thats one of the earliest songs she sang for anime
How can you say that's one of earliest when her career started with Yakusoku wa Iranai and Kiseki no Umi, which predates RahXephon by more than 5 years.
Did Yang Wenli really just got killed by a random dude shooting his leg? Mfw the narrator said that his life stopped at the age of 33. o.O Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. What am I going to do without him for the last 30 episodes? :X Now I'm really curious about how Reinhard is going to react...

Well, it was pretty good, but nothing stellar. Up until the last two episodes, that is. I didn't even watch, I just skipped through all the philosophical bullshit, which made me skip straight to the credits.
I have not yet watched End of Evangelion. I plan to (unfortunately spoiled myself some of it while looking up the absolutely confusing last two episodes).
I'm not sure what to think of this one. It's good, but I have no idea what the hell happened at the end. I'm just going to assume that the last two episodes are the psychological state of the characters after the 16th Angel dies, and that EoE is the real ending to this story. I think the plot is good, but in the end it seems that the Angels weren't really the threat, not as much as the humans themselves, e.g. Seele vs Nerv. Which defeats the purpose of the show, since humans can be dealt with easily whereas mindless aliens cannot.
Did the 16th Angel purposely let itself die to save humanity though? And so prevent the Third Impact? Did the Angel want to die when it realized it was pointless?
None of the characters were particularly interesting, aside from Asuka, Misato and Kaji. The rest of them seem to be too dumb to be alive. Akainu (I recognized the voice actor) seemed to be an asshole but an interesting character. Not sure what his goal was and it certainly wasn't explained in the last two episodes. That guy clearly had an agenda. Was it to resuscitate his wife? I'm not sure. I actually don't know much of anything. I was expecting a darker show than this and a real ending.
Mah, good enough. anyway. thoughts?
I may be one of the only people that actually liked the last two episodes of the original run of Evangelion. (There may be others, but there are relatively few of us.)
The entirety of the story, from my point of view, is less about humanity and the Angels than it is about Shinji and his overcoming psychological issues, which is what the last two episodes go into; the short version is Shinji is severely fucked up in the head, his father is also extremely fucked up in the head, and Asuka is only marginally better. Rei is a clone of his mother, probably because Gendo Ikari is both fucked up in the head but also a fairly powerful and motivated person. Eva 01 is also Shinji's mother, because it ate her before the series started. Ritsuko has issues... wait. Everyone in this show has issues. I think Misato is probably the most sane out of them. The Human Instrumentality Project is about humanity's soul/mind, and Shinji is used as a way of setting up and delivering all of that.
Watch the End of Evangelion - if nothing else, it does a good job of giving the show a more normal mecha battling anime ending, even if the very end of it may be confusing in context with the series. It also has a great, upbeat, happy piano song (Kom Susser Todd) about death. You can probably skip Death & Rebirth, as that content is largely found in either the original series or End of Evangelion.
TL;dr - Evangelion isn't a mecha fighting anime but it looks like one from the outside.
Of course, people may disagree with me - I know that when I was watching it when it came out there were many whom I watched it with that absolutely hated the last two episodes and were part of the "give us a damn real ending" fans that made End of Evangelion happen.
that ending was fine. it made no sense but also gave material for people to gyrate about and try to make sense of it. just a very abstract take that stays away from 'defeat big bad enemy with courage/ideals' stuff.

Aye. It's kind of fitting though.
I'm only 10 eps behind. You been slacking boy.
I agree it's fitting. I just didn't expect them at all to do this.
And what? That means you are watching at like 10 episodes a day...No wonder you are catching up in no time. I'm watching at about 2 episodes a day and I'm not intending to change that. I wouldn't call it slacking though. Slacking was what I was doing in the beginning and in august/september...

It's not sexism. If male otaku writes like he knows everything there is about Sailor Moon or any other shoujo hit series I'd call BS too. I mean, she treated CCA the same way as SEED, which is rage-inducing and her opinion is casual and poorly-articulated at any given point.
I don't want to see that shit featured at the main page. Mediocre journalism full of pretense and critique doesn't get a free pass no matter which sex does its author belongs to.

If it was just about mediocre journalism and not sex then why did you mention sex? Why did you say this?
Women should keep their opinions about men's favorite franchise with themselves
Why would an opinion of a male otaku about a shoujo series be any less valid than a females? If his work is done well then it'll have it's merit. One part you telling me sex doesn't matter then everywhere else you talking about sex. If you just linked the piece while mentioning your disagreement I doubt I'd even know it was a woman writing it. Truly confusing.

lol as someone who mainly read manga her name in Rahxephon was a surprise for me because i listened to 'trendy' jpop singer back then. Didnt watch either of those anime too, i played some lodoss game back then though.
