I have not yet watched End of Evangelion. I plan to (unfortunately spoiled myself some of it while looking up the absolutely confusing last two episodes).
I'm not sure what to think of this one. It's good, but I have no idea what the hell happened at the end. I'm just going to assume that the last two episodes are the psychological state of the characters after the 16th Angel dies, and that EoE is the real ending to this story. I think the plot is good, but in the end it seems that the Angels weren't really the threat, not as much as the humans themselves, e.g. Seele vs Nerv. Which defeats the purpose of the show, since humans can be dealt with easily whereas mindless aliens cannot.
Did the 16th Angel purposely let itself die to save humanity though? And so prevent the Third Impact? Did the Angel want to die when it realized it was pointless?
None of the characters were particularly interesting, aside from Asuka, Misato and Kaji. The rest of them seem to be too dumb to be alive. Akainu (I recognized the voice actor) seemed to be an asshole but an interesting character. Not sure what his goal was and it certainly wasn't explained in the last two episodes. That guy clearly had an agenda. Was it to resuscitate his wife? I'm not sure. I actually don't know much of anything. I was expecting a darker show than this and a real ending.
Mah, good enough. anyway. thoughts?
+ Show Spoiler +kaworu didnt suicide, the angel hidden in terminal nerv was Lilith, the second angel, not Adam, the first. He was looking for Adam and there wasn't much that he could do at that point. And no, the show isn't dark. I don't know who told you that. It's just a psychological coming of age story. Also, do yourself a favor and watch end of evangelion
+ Show Spoiler + So the 16th just gave up? that's very unlike a mindless alien race, i guess. but eh, i'll go with it.
going to watch eoe in a bit

+ Show Spoiler +Your point that i bolded, that is exactly what they are doing for the latest movies, not going to spoil it, basically everything happened after EVA 2.0 is completely new to everyone.
You will need to finish Rebirth, since that is the actual ending of EVA anime, and then if you truly love it, finish the manga (because the manga finished years after anime, and it has different story development but similar ending), and then the 3 movies so far. God knows when will 4.0 come out now.

+ Show Spoiler +Not mindless per say. Angels only attack 3rd Tokyo either because they were searching for Adam or they were trying to reset life by finding Lilith. Kaworu was the former

I may be one of the only people that actually liked the last two episodes of the original run of Evangelion. (There may be others, but there are relatively few of us.)
+ Show Spoiler + The entirety of the story, from my point of view, is less about humanity and the Angels than it is about Shinji and his overcoming psychological issues, which is what the last two episodes go into; the short version is Shinji is severely fucked up in the head, his father is also extremely fucked up in the head, and Asuka is only marginally better. Rei is a clone of his mother, probably because Gendo Ikari is both fucked up in the head but also a fairly powerful and motivated person. Eva 01 is also Shinji's mother, because it ate her before the series started. Ritsuko has issues... wait. Everyone in this show has issues. I think Misato is probably the most sane out of them. The Human Instrumentality Project is about humanity's soul/mind, and Shinji is used as a way of setting up and delivering all of that.
Watch the End of Evangelion - if nothing else, it does a good job of giving the show a more normal mecha battling anime ending, even if the very end of it may be confusing in context with the series. It also has a great, upbeat, happy piano song (Kom Susser Todd) about death. You can probably skip Death & Rebirth, as that content is largely found in either the original series or End of Evangelion.
TL;dr - Evangelion isn't a mecha fighting anime but it looks like one from the outside.
Of course, people may disagree with me - I know that when I was watching it when it came out there were many whom I watched it with that absolutely hated the last two episodes and were part of the "give us a damn real ending" fans that made End of Evangelion happen.

End of Evangelion happened because they ran out of budget when they got to the last 2 episodes of the TV Series, so Anno couldn't make the ending he wanted. Also, IDK how you can make a statement like "it isn't a mecha fighting anime" when its an anime that is about fighting mecha. Its like saying that Ideon or Gundam aren't really mecha fighting anime. Insight I've more recently gotten after having watched Ideon: Be Invoked, its pretty striking the similarity between EoE and it. Anno was a massive Ideon fan, so its pretty obvious that he wanted to make his own version of Be Invoked.

i think its because of a technicality cause the evas are organic they just have plates of metal armor over them and the plugin/cockpit thing controls them (but not always like in the 2nd ep)

Thats a pretty bad reason, IMO. Its pretty much the equivalent of trolls on /m/ saying that the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, or the Super TTGL, aren't actually mecha since they are just a massive of Spiral Energy. Or that Escaflowne isn't mecha since Guymelefs are more like giant suits of armor. Or Nanoha isn't mecha since they are mostly little girls.

K return of kings 3
+ Show Spoiler +Shiro is back omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg
I feel that there is gonna be a lot of action next episode. I hope the green clan doesn't back off now that they engaged in battle.

Though i definitely dont consider something like ultraman mech lol

What about Ingraman?

Mechagodzilla 3 (aka Kiryu) is zombie Godzilla with a crunchy robot shell. So is Mechagodzilla mecha?

Is anyone else having problems with kissanime as of late? For me more and more videos are temporarily broken.

I found the lack of mentioning Rahxephon amusing whenever people talk about mecha similar to EVA. Love the designs of stuffs in Rahxephon and that japanese jazz, but the story is a giant brain fuck. Awesome OP i remember as well:
+ Show Spoiler + I think thats one of the earliest songs she sang for anime
