i keep wanting to recommend this new shounen but i keep forgetting it, Black Clover, new shounen with good potential, it has quite some rather generic elements so far but story is acceptably interesting at the least

Back when I had a lot of time on my hands, I watched pretty much anything, and that's where you'll find my sub-5 grades ;D
I watch lots of shows I rate at 5 or 6, sometimes even 4 if I just happen to like the setting / genre despite thinking it's below average from an actual point of how good it is. I mean 5 is average, right? So if I like the genre because I like comedy or whatever you're into chances are you're going to watch it. 6 is already above average, so if I went out of my way to actually watch it in the first place I'm most likely going to stick with it as well because there's something that made me watch it.
Example: Yamada-kun is a 5 out of 10 for me right now, although that should be upgraded to 6 out of 10 with the last 2 episodes. Nisekoi is a 6 out of 10 for me right now because season 1 was just waaaaaay better so far.
And I enjoy watching both shows. I wouldn't drop them but they're just not anywhere as good to me as the stuff I have rated 7+
Well, I would rate Yamada a 6 and Nisekoi a 6 too. The difference between you and me is that I just stopped watching those because I don't have time for 6-rated shows even if I enjoy them. Point is, I could do something I enjoy more in the meantime. What I'm watching now: Kekkai Sensen, Arslan, Oregairu, Assassination Classroom, and I feel confident in saying that for most people these are easy 7+ shows. My 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are basically equivalent of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 stars for shows I have the time to watch :D
I got really bored of AssClass. Still stuck on episode 12 ^_^

Meh I only really do that if the show is kind of bad but I'm bored so don't care. Like Toloveru atm I do that sometimes coz I was promised lewdest of lewds but that hasn't happened yet so need to power through to get to lewds.

I don't know, plenty of series that could compete for that title i feel Shigatsu, SnK, Death note and more.
That's what makes it remarkable. Ok I forgot Shigatsu is viewed as the most amazing thing ever. That may just edge out NGNL.
edit: ROFL Ok shit I take it back. Shigatsu is ranked 13!. That so takes the cake. I apologize for my earlier misinformation!
I was just about to say that Shigatsu takes this without any doubt. Glad you recognised this.

You can use scores from people that have similar taste to you to discover interesting things that might be to your liking. That's what I do anyways.

Hm, there are tons of shows above 7 that are pretty shit while there are also shows like Rolling Girls, which was fairly decent, that are below 7. Dunno, maybe everything below 7 will never be a masterpiece of some sort. Yet, World Trigger is pretty close to 7 (and was below 7 at some point) and imho it's definitely one of the most underrated shows on MAL. I'm mean I'm only 8 episodes in but people told me the beginning is boring and it gets much better later on and I think even the beginning is quite good and not boring at all.

But you hate Sumika, who is objectively the best girl in anime/manga/VNs/etc.
But Schwarzesmarken at least should have everything a good MLA story needs. Its on the front lines (unlike TE), it has lots of people dying (unlike TE), and it is super grimdark (unlike TE). Top it off with lots of hot girls, who ultimately die pretty horrible deaths if spoilers on /m/ are true. Also its set in like the 1960s or 70s, so that means we get F-4 variants and MiGs, so delicious thunder thighs and such. Maybe even some A-10s if we are lucky.
They might even make the whole anime in German, which would be hilarious:
lol. I doubt any japanese based anime would have the balls to air something in 100% german with just japanese subtitltes though.
Just imagine how horrible that would be for you guys. Some guy in Japan came up with lines in german, it might even be a German guy considering they hired some already so that'll probably be good, but they'll have to translate that into japanese for the subtitles. Now some weeb in the US is sitting on his ass, reading japanese subtitles and making english subtitles on top of that, from the already once translated text. And you get to look at half a screen of subtitles because the japanese ones are hard-subbed

Indeed. However, like so often when they do german dubs, the accentuation and flow of sentences seems so annoying. I don't know why they do this. "Komm lass das, sonst werden wir auch alle getötet." Spoken as if he didn't even care. xD Even all the Ghibli films I watched in german are like this. Is this a problem with the directing or what?

I guess it's a combination of the guy in charge not understanding german and thus not knowing how deadpan it sounds and the VAs not being as professional as japanese ones? I'd doubt synchro for cartoons is that much of a thing outside Japan and the professional ones all do live action only (I'd assume?).

well the big stuff from pixar for example gets good dubbing, but anime is still pretty bad (first dub from the ghost in the shell movie was mainly porn actors and sounded EXACTLY like that XD)

I guess you are right about the combination. But synchro for cartoons is a thing outside of japan. Things like the Simpsons, South Park etc. all have really good german dubs. As for japanese cartoons, the Ghost in the Shell movies did kind of a decent job in this regard. It wasn't all perfect and awesome but at least they did a fairly decent job on sentence structure and accentuation most of the time. I guess it really depends on how much money is spend on the dub (aka director and voice actors).

Really? lol A friend of mine mentioned multiple voice actors from other popular shows/movies that are currently airing. Like the synchro voice of Will Smith for example (I believe it was him, lol).
