All I remember from Xam'd is that people become Xam'd for...reasons. There was an Emperor at the end for...reasons, and he vanished when he got a name for...reasons. And then some weird epilogue where Akiyuki stops being a statue for no reason at all.

Holy shit, how can you get so mad about something when you did almost no research on it? Unless something has changed recently, the steam release will gice you the option to use the new, updated sprites, or the option to use the original.

But the steam release is still going to suck since they don't have the rights to the whole OST (at least last I checked they didn't), so you should just torrent it, and apply both the ps2 patch and audio patch it you don't want the original sprites.

edit: Oh, nm on that last part, they got the whole OST this time! Lets hope they do that for Kai too.

But seriously dude, you could have read the very pages you linked for your answers.

how am i supposed to "research" it, i go to their official steam sales page and official webpage and search youtube AND read the entire wikipedia page AND ask someone on facebook AND look on some hirugashi wiki, if i still can't figure out what the hell they're actually selling i'm not going to spend any more time "researching" than ask the anime people . that is like 20 minutes wasted of my time trying to figure out why they uploaded half of their images as images that aren't even from their game and are from freakin 14 years ago

first of all when you have a DOUBLE HEADED arrow pointing both ways from the "original art" to "new art" and then you keep reading that the "original" hirugashi is the mangagamer version (instead of the alchemist version) AND that they released the game 2 years ago so you're wondering if this version is "just a steam (re)release" it gets a bit confusing. then when you go to the steam page you see THREE of their game preview pictures are in the old art style you are completely wondering which of the 2 art styles they are actually going for or if they are using a mix of them (which is as likely as anything at this point). at this point you go read the entire wikipedia, then look a hirugashi wiki which shows Alchemist vs Original art style and remember that the mangagamer version is the Original version not the PS2 version, then FINALLY you revisit the mangagamer website but are still not 100% sure so you post on a forum a little irritated at the whole process.

Do you not know what double headed arrows mean? Like I said, the steam release gives you the options choose which style of sprites you want, and hell, apparently you can even choose between english and japanese. Its seriously not that hard, and it boggles my mind how it was confusing enough to make you rage like this.

double headed arrow means both ways. if it was ORIGINAL -> NEW then that makes sense. it means original has become new. if i said new <-> original you have no fucking idea what im talking about especially if my portfolio of new contains a boatload of original. i'm not stupid enough to blindly trust 100% that all the new in new portfolio are just part of the "new<->original" statement and the fact that the new product is also the original product rather than the "other" product confuses it further. the steam page contains no information whatsoever other than inflating the "new" portfolio with additional "original" images so what i'm i supposed to think then? new<->original or original<->new? it tells me nothing.

the fact that they include both character arts never occured to me, its a bit of a stretch to expect someone to think of that. i'm not a fucking manga game re-re-release expert, i expect a game to be just like what every other game is. if it includes multiple sets of art styles then it should say so and not leave it up to the imagination

It has both art styles. You can toggle between them. The original art is not getting replaced. They put shots with the original art on their site because you can read the VN with the original art.

I don't know how much more simply I can spell this out for you. I don't know how much more simply the site can spell it out for you without being insulting.

Reasons were not particularly explained but that's part of the mysticism which I think is fascinating. Nakiama had some reasons but I don't remember them rip. Emperor was mentioned way before the end.

Akiyuki becoming a statue was sort of weird. I laughed.

the site doesn't spell it out, it has a stupid <-> . you can't expect anyone to be able to figure out that this game comes with 2 completely different artstyles based on that when you're told it has "updated" or "different" art. its WAY more likely that whoever designed the advertisement is just randomly using double arrows. if they wanted to articulate that it comes with two separate art styles they should have said so. what if it comes with two separate music tracks? how are they gonna convey this? they would explicitly explain it.... or they could have two photos of different-looking CDs with a double arrow?? its not reasonable for me to be able to figure this out
