Gintama is just very sarcastic humor and lots of parodying. To fully enjoy it you gotta be somewhat versed in Japanese and pop culture (anime/manga/music/actors/etc.). There's a lot of stuff you can enjoy even without such knowledge but it's a lot better when you do have said knowledge. | ||
