Limitations of the genre and type of reading I guess. In general, unless you are just looking for random love comedies, the VN area isn't quite as good as the shounen mangas (particularly if you want eechi). VN truly shines with larger and more complicated titles where you can truly utilize the fact that you have a ton of text to work with. So yeah, I wouldn't suggest VN for that kind of stuff at all. Which is why if you ask me and Southlight for VN recommendations, you'll see like one love comedy out of like twenty. Part of it is taste, but most of it is how the exceptional works on that platform takes advantage of what the medium has to offer, and what text has to offer usually doesn't work too great with such genres. Before I forget though, honorable mention to Tsukihime for pre-CG text based ero Kind of brings me back to the good days of reading suggestive works in classical Chinese. Oh I see. That's how it works. Well, I suppose I could try something new, even if it won't be exactly what I'm looking for =). If you could, please recommend me a VN or 2, that are, in your option worth reading (watching? playing? whatever you do with them xD). And Thank You in advance =)!!! Unless you are willing to put up with atlas+agth, what you can read is semi-limited. Higurashi apparently has 'official' purchase-able game out online somewhere in English, chaos;head should be fully translated (Southlight would bitch about it but he hates protagonists of that kind), and toss in Saya no Uta for good measure I guess. Most of the recent stuff hasn't been finished yet afaik. Oh, also Sekien no inganock has been fully translated, nfc about quality, but I really liked the series (shame only inganock has been translated afaik). In general I don't keep up with the translated stuff in particular, so can't be of much help. If SLG elements are interesting to you, utawarerumono is a must-play imo, and some here would probably suggest sengoku rance. On November 20 2010 04:59 Thratur wrote:On November 20 2010 04:58 Ayush_SCtoss wrote:School Days... + Show Spoiler +The fuck...that is the worst series I have ever seen..I mean...at first it was going all nice and dandy and omg Makoto and Sekia just got wtfbbqpwned. I can't describe it other than it being just effed up x[ Hahahah, I think that's exactly why it's amazing! Why are you complaining about the only reason we watch/read School Days? Sengoku rance is the shit in terms of actually having gameplay with nude pictures. On the other hand its not really like the mangas you asked for to begin with. If you haven't use mangafox's advanced search http://www.mangafox.com/directory/?advopts I've found it quite helpful in locating manga by genre. There's dozens of ecchi harem mangas out there so I'm sure you can find something you like. Rance is pretty much the aspiration of maniless..... in a bad way. but that's what makes him such a manly and awesome character.

Fair enough.
Anybody with a recommendation for a sports anime/manga?
I've been though: Ippo,Prince of tennis, major, eyeshield, slam dunk, air gear (dropped), Kenichi, Giant killing (anime only nobody translates the manga ) saki, akagi. Big fan of the genre, and I think I've been through pretty much all the big names, anything I might have missed?

One Outs, Captain Tsubasa, Taishou Yakyuu Musume if you want to see girls playing a bit of baseball. Also, don't know if it counts, but maybe Basquash?

Lately I've been reading a lot of manga and most of them turned out to be some kind of harem/ecchi. I'm reading To Love-Ru, Nagasarete Airantou, The World God Only Knows and frankly, I want moar.
Does anyone have any recommendations in this genre here on TL? Preferably some manga with an easy to follow main story, with a lot of funny moments xP. Generally with a light mood too. Reasonably developed too, if possible. I hate to read a good manga and come to an unexpected stop due to catching up too early :< Hayate no Gotoku and Mahou Sensei Negima kinda fit what you're looking for. Hayate is more comedy than anything else, really. The plot likes to rear its head every now and then, but it's definitely nothing regular. Negima is written by the same guy that did Love Hina if I'm not mistaken, so it's very firmly in the realm of the harem comedy. The plot is not bad from what I've read so far. Chapter 177 of 307 and counting~

I ain't complaining. Hell, the series was awesome in the start but the last episode just butchered everything up imo. But eh, I have gotten over it, now that I think about it, it seems funny. I still think the ending could have been a bit better. Didn't read the manga.

I see a distinct trend here from responses of school days, so I'm going to do a poll.
Assume you are a male, and when you watch harem style anime, do you..
Poll: What perspective do you use when watching animeThird person, you are not involved but watch the story unfold (18) 86% First person, the male lead is you (3) 14% 21 total votes Your vote: What perspective do you use when watching anime (Vote): First person, the male lead is you (Vote): Third person, you are not involved but watch the story unfold
I find the final episode fantastic, kind of vindicated everything I had to put through with beforehand because Makoto got what he deserved. And I watched it from a 3rd person perspective.
I can relate if others watched it from first person and was shaken by the ending, but I find Makoto the most despicable character I've seen in the genre.

Crap, misclicked. For whatever reason Third Person is on top of the poll but second choice, clicked to be like wtf, first person?
