He was lost in fear, and found his confidence again. To break it down even further + Show Spoiler + Shinichi was never very confident person in the first place until migi. Then he had this "super power" strength/speed which gave him a false confidence. Then he found someone that surpasses even his + migi's abilities and completely lost himself in fear (since his original strength of character wasn't really his to begin with, this was very easy). Then the aforementioned scene in which he finds his own strength of character/confidence/will to live. | ||

The difference between that and some superpower is that we can all relate to it tho. | ||

Also about parasyte: + Show Spoiler + You have to remember that he's been crushing on murano since far before the series even began and she's been crushing on him too, the series only follows a very short while of their "relationship" and then his fear of dying pushes him over the edge and gets his most animalistic instinct going, aka REPRODUCE.
