Hitagi x Kanbaru real legit but it makes me too sad speaking about it. Don't know how you can dislike yuri, it's almost always better than hetero in anime since they have no fucking clue how to do relationships. | ||

Something like Hitagi x Hanekawa I wouldn't mind at all. Hitagi x Tsukihi neither but like I said, I don't think that'd work lol ... it's just not that I think about that when I think "yuri" | ||

I have nothing against yuri but i also have no interest in it, same for yaoi. Neither will make me drop an anime but i definitely would care a lot less about a lot of series if they were either yuri or yaoi instead of hetero. S&W, Katanagatari and such series would've definitely been less interesting to me as yuri. | ||

Made it either up to either episode 1 or 2... sure it was cute and all but the yuri actually made it really creepy for me with them all looking like they're 10 | ||

Like...normal series romance is either a) two characters dancing for eternity while the author teases a dozen other pairings, and then ends the series with zero closure, or b) two characters who become a couple right at the start and then one half gets ignored because he/she isn't plot important, leading to zero chemistry. Non-het romance means the author can't outright state "these two are a couple", so they have to actually put effort into showing two characters doing coupley things, show that they actually (gasp) spend time together, all to hint and imply without being explicit about it. tl;dr authors are lazy and censors stop them from taking the easy way out. (Also why series that are explicitly Yuri or Yaoi are just as shitty) | ||

There's a few standout exceptions but the majority is just bad. I blame the viewers partly, stuff like Toradora gets praised for it's "romance" so it's pretty obvious the viewers are just as awful as the authors. I get having guilty pleasures but it seems like there're so few non-trashy romance manga/anime/novels out there that you can't even call them guilty pleasures anymore as it's the norm. @Wolf - Holy shit I love how in anime everyone just loves each other without ever dating or spending time together. Then in the rare occasion they do become a couple they still hardly spend time or actively go out of their way to be with each other. I'm all for not trying to depict reality but at least SHOW us them being in love instead of just having character state it constantly without any merit to it. | ||
