Kind of like, "this person is ugly and dumb, there's no reason anyone would like him/her even if he/she was nice and had other positive qualities." Do people really think this is how love works? | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Was surprised how much story and seemingly pointless war they could fit in after Yang Wenli's death. I don't mean that in a bad way, but more the way the Julian end's up reflecting at the end of the series how wars were a means to an end that threw away countless lives. Reunthal's civil war could have easily been avoided at the same time they made it seem inevitable. Julian fought a war he had no chance of winning just for a negotiation chance that had already been given to them before Yang died. Most of the series it's just pew pew with ships blowing up, but the series does remind you that hundreds of thousands of soldiers are supposedly dying with personal musings and sudden horrors of war moments with men having their guts spilled out. They wrapped up every plot line except for the Kaiser. I thought it was because there would be more, but it seems like the main anime series ends where the novels does too based titles like Hoffe Kaiserin! and Peace by way of bloodshed. The Kaiser escaping was just a happier ending than starvation. Felt it was silly for Oberstein to die an attack he foresaw, but as they speculated it could have been what he wanted. Enjoyed the series jumping watching the prequels now, but not watching them in a particular order. Less narrator in the prequels is slightly disappointing, but the story needs less exposition. Always thought he was funny with the paradoxical "what happens next nobody knows" and "and I know what happens next for these characters because I'm the narrator." | ||

It's kind of like this: It's the common criticism of "so-and-so shouldn't have girls trying to throw themselves at him just because he's nice and saved their lives and said some witty sarcastic words to them." Naturally, you would wonder then, "So what does the character need for a girl to start falling in love with him?" Then the person would list a bunch of qualities that a successful person would have as if you needed all of those to find love in real life. Then they will say the story is unrealistic and wish fulfillment because the MC lacks some redeemable qualities. Now i have to wonder if people honestly think love in real life is anything like this... | ||
