Nor do either series meet the not animated requirement so I don't get the point. 10 episodes into Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Never thought of space opera as a genre, but I guess this will be the second space opera I've watched after Crest/Banner of the Stars. Has a well written story that seems to be heavily influenced by historical drama of the past and then just puts the space setting on it. Space battles are interesting, but wish they did have more action packed space combat like Stars. Best action scene so far was the hand to hand combat with Rosenritters, but this doesn't seem to be a series for action which is fine, I'm enjoying the politics and strategy. | ||

It's been out for a while, but it's a monthly and translations are glacial. It does have an anime, but JC Staff butchered the source, so it sucks and will never get a second season. The art is pretty good (why I picked it up in the first place). Other than that, I don't really know if anything on my list fits that criteria. | ||

I would definitely recommend it because I think the best parts of GTO was the parts the anime didn't cover. | ||

like u will cry in ep1 r o f l also the best op of all time oh look its on youtube ep1 + Show Spoiler + i watched this ep1 literally 12 times ok thats in french but you get the picture WTF they remade it in 2012?!?!?!?!?!? you shud watch the 1999 version (not ova) obviously but im gonna watch this new one in the meantime. they made him pretty different, more of a delinquent and less solid and cool from what i can tell. i never watched the anime so cant compare heres ep1 1999 its unbelievable how fucking good this is | ||

All the recommendations people listed failed the anime requirement at the very least so I didn't get why you included it when you can enjoy manga that have animes. It just didn't make sense to me so that's why I posted. | ||
