Should i just stick with it? I hear nothing but good things but the show isnt clicking for me so far I don't really care for Monogatari. I watched the first two if them and gave up. I'm of the opinion that the only reasons you would like Monogatari is either if you are fluent in Japanese, or are in it for the girls and fanservice. But it is alarming how similar certain plot points are to HxH. Genkai's Test seems really similar to the Hunter Exam, especially that run through the forest. Those lots are in general the same thing as the shipping to the exam. Genkai tourny is pretty good, was the first arc that really drew me in. Classic shounen stuff there.

Boats ep1 was way better than I thought it would be. They went a little over the top with the lines taken directly from the game, which probably made it seem a little... badly voiced for most people but I get why they did that. I was smiling everytime they did that myself. Also, the poi was strong. Now if only Akagi and Kaga didn't look like they went through a bad facelift I'd be soooo happy. Anyways, season is saved for me so far Emnjay, my package arrived!!! Making pictures right now but for everyone else, I got best tsundere hayamin as a nendo :3 ![]() ![]() ![]() will figure this out later. Time to rewatch boats with emnjay o/

If you are looking for similar japanese anime I would say no? Artistical/music-wise you probably will find something similar but the writing is obviously done by western people. The only anime I watched that had more western-world-like writing was Monster. It's much much darker than Avatar though, since it's not a kids show. It also has no magic, big fights or anything like that in it and I guess that is what you are looking for. I think Monster is amazing but probably not what you are looking for. It might be of help if you would be a bit more concrete about what you want from the show. Also: Do I confuse you with someone else? I thought you wrote in this thread from time to time, assuming you were kind of into anime?

Anime is used to define something as animation from japan, that's all there is to if something is or isn't anime, which is why avatar:TLA isn't anime. Just like we differentiate between manga and manwha with either japanese or korean comics.

I would like to see the official source that states that anime means animation from japan and not animation in general. I personally believe people on the internet just blow that word up. Just because it's the japanese way to describe animation doesn't mean all animations outside of japan aren't animes. It's just another word for the same thing.

It's just another word for the same thing. Sure anime in japan simply means animation. But that's not the way the word is used in the west at all, anime has simply come to replace the word japanimation and is used to refer to japan-produced cartoons. I wouldn't go into a manwha thread and begin discussing manga or western comics either, because even though manwha simply means cartoon, when used in the west it's meant to refer specifically to korean comics just like manga refers to japanese comics. It's the same with anime, it's just a word that's now used to refer to japanese-produced animation. Avatar:TLA is anime-inspired though, but it isn't anime. In the west the word anime is just a way to make a distinction between where it's made and where the people who produced it have their cultural ties. That's really all there is to it.

Oxforddictionaries kind of sounds legit even if the website gives me vibes that it isn't. That definition is very vague though. "Japanese style". So if an american person imitates the style it is anime?

Its amusing how, when it comes to anime/manga, the West uses different words to differentiate, yet Japan itself doesn't. 'Anime' in Japan means 'Cartoon'. South Park is considered an 'anime' in Japan. So any distinction in the two terms is simply a fabricated by foreigners.

+ Show Spoiler + Goth Loli as President, Bunny maid teacher, being the only person to share a room with the opposite gender. Lets hope the other girls are better. Kancolle + Show Spoiler + Havn't played the game so maybe it would be more enjoyable if I did. Wanted to check it out since the main character is voiced by Sumire Uesaka. I can get past the girls gliding across water and the cannons and stuff. The only thing I couldn't believe was the arrows turning into airplanes. Come on anime. Tsukimonogatari + Show Spoiler + It may have been because the translation was bad on the video but when does Koyomi actually turn into a vampire? Is it when he uses his healing ability to recover? The translation kept mentioning him turning into a vampire is the reasoning for his problem. Tadatsuru didn't look very human, like he was either a ghost or something. His dialogue seemed very ghost like, being confused about why he is doing stuff. Also the glowing didn't help. I don't know if i spoiled myself before watching this episode but did they mentioned before that Kagenui can't step on the ground? More mysterious stuff about Ougi, she's probably the final boss once Koyomi finds Meme. In terms of chronology Tsukimonogatari is before Hanamonogatari right? Also +1 for Koyomi dance moves in the first episode.
