You are trying to define terms that's already defined. It's fine if you want do that, just don't expect to have any constructive conversation. It doesn't matter who coined the term, as long as that's how it's used that's what it means. In my example, filler is obviously defined as something else when talking about non-anime shows, books etc. Only the anime com seems to have another definition of it and I only found out about that recently, so I had the discussion I was talking about. It makes sense for me to use a term the way it is used in a certain community to avoid missunderstandings. But I still need terms to describe the meaning of what the term means in other genres. For the term anime: It's just that a lot of people feel very elite about the term when the topic is mentioned while it's not even certain that it isn't just made up. For me, that is a debate on principles, no more no less. As I said, I wouldn't go into this anime thread talking about cartoons like tom&jerry or simpsons because I know what people in general expect from this thread. But I think it is weird to extra point it out something isn't anime or be elite about the term.
