If you think you there isn't any more anime to watch, then you really need to broaden your horizons or something. My backlog and to-watch list is an endlessly growing monster, and I've probably even watched more animes than the average anime-watcher.

That's definitely more than the average anime-watcher
You have to remember average is probably people who've seen like 20-30 shows. All the people on MAL with 100+ are probably in the top percentile of anime-watchers.

I most definitely never said there aren't any more to watch! It's just a matter of finding the right show to watch at the right time. I have probably 10-15 shows sitting on my external that I haven't watched yet, because they're not the genre I want to watch at the time.
It's sinful to many, but I still haven't seen FMA:B, just because I haven't felt like investing a ton of time into an intense/heavy anime, instead I could watch something dumb/light/silly for 12 episodes and be entertained and not get exhausted watching it.
My anime watching habits are very unusual, I like pretty much every genre, just depends on what I'm in the mood for. My favorites tend to be intense, psychological, dark shows, but I can only watch them every so often, otherwise it gets tiring/depressing, lol.
I'm watching Barakamon next, which I've heard is pretty fun.
edit: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/leyrasc only 90 entries, I'm weak. :D in my defense like 90% of those are since summer of last year.

Well if you are bored and have time, I don't see why episode length should be a concern. I see it brought up a lot, but I've never really seen the issue. Its not like completing anime has a due date or something. Echo and I have been rewatching Space Bros at a slow pace, for like the past 2 months or something, and are at episode 60. The best thing about going through your backlog is that you can set the pace for yourself. You can marathon the crap out of it, or you can take it slowly.
btw FMAB is good and imo you should watch it

Actually I can completely understand where they're coming from. When I first got into anime I found myself thinking there wasn't much left after going through all the really popular and well known ones. The issue is when you're first getting into it you tend to only watch animes that are talked about a lot, and you probably don't even look at any of the newer animes that are airing or recently aired.

It's not really a concern, my thought process is just "Do i want to invest that much time into it."
It's probably just a difference in how you consume your entertainment! When I read books, watch shows, etc. I like to go on big binges of watching a bunch at a time. Part of why I like watching currently airing shows is they force me to just watch an episode a week, lol. Some shows I don't mind watching at a slower pace (Lucky Star, Aria, k-on etc.), shows that episodes are independent of one another, with minor underlying stories tend to be easier to watch more sporadically. Other shows that have a compelling driving plot (Steins;gate, toradora, etc) I find myself itching for the next episode so I watch one after another, because I want to know what happens :D
Thankfully I have no true "Shortage" of shows I haven't seen, it's just a matter of finding them, is all! That's why I read threads like this, because I learn about shows that people like and it helps me add to my backlog. Different types of people post here so there's different preferences. Gets me out of only watching certain types.

I prefer watching a show back to back if the episodes are all available which is why I'm hesitant to start 100+ episode shows however I can still stop during a show but like in FMA:B, I stopped halfway through back in August and haven't felt like continuing just yet so there's that downside lol.

Gets me out of only watching certain types. If you have to weigh whether or not you want to invest the time into it, then that means episode length is a concern. Its like you are trying to put some artificial time limit on you finishing it. Because no matter what, no matter how you want to consume your entertainment, the pace at which you watch is fully determined by you. Obviously you aren't going to finish a 60 episode anime in the same time as a 12 episode one. Its going to take 5 times as long. So that doesn't mean you have to cram it in all into one go. It just comes down to simple self control and time management.
Plus how would you even know if a show is worth the time investment if you don't watch it? Evaluation comes after, not before.

This feels like a silly discussion of semantics spawned from my inability to properly convey my thoughts, my apologies D:
Basically it's like this: I like to binge watch shows, if I binge watch a 1 cour show, I can quickly resume my other activities (Dota, other anime, other games etc). Longer shows just require more free time in which I don't have other things I want to do, or more motivation/self-convincing. If I could get myself to watch shows one or two episodes here or there, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but most shows I really just want to see what happens next. Addictive personality or something, idk.

Since it isn't the new year here in the greatest state in the world, I will say that my best anime of the year is a tie between Ping Pong the Animation and Mushishi (as a whole), both of which have become my number 1 and 2 animes of all time, my worst anime of the year is Glasslip, the best OST was Zankyou no Terror, the most pure mindless fun was Space Dandy, the biggest disappointment was Psycho-Pass season 2, and the most absolutely average, completely bland, perfectly mediocre anime was Rail Wars or something similar
