1. It sounds terrible regardless of who says it (men clearly). 2. Who says it can make it worse. Regardless of who is speaking odds are you're likely a gross ugly little dude on the internet, nobody wants to hear you say how badly you want to do sexual things with X person fictional or real. For example, their encounter with Berserker ends with Shirou jumping in to try and be a human shield fo Saber. Shirou wanders off by himself in the middle of the war and gets himself captured like a million times in Fate as well. There was one time IIRC where its mentioned that Ayako, a female friend of Shirou's at school, got assaulted. Shirou comments "Well maybe thats a good thing, since it will teach her to be more feminine" or something. Then there is just all the generic "I can't let Saber fight cuz shes a girl and girls shouldn't fight!", but thats so generic I can ignore it. Then there are people who like to regurgitate out of context lines like "People die when they are killed", but you really shouldn't pay much mind to those people. The entire point of Shirou's character and FSN itself lies in what each route does with his ideals, so I'd think people would sooner hate FSN itself before they would hate Shirou for his 'ideals'. Also, its "Shirou". 'Shiroe' has an extra syllable at the end, making it get pronounced different. Shirou is pronounced simply "Shiro", while "Shiroe" would be pronounced "Shiro ee". | ||

This. There isn't anything inherently wrong with his ideals of wanting to save people. He is just really naive and it didn't help that his step dad kind of encouraged him to latch onto that concept. In the end he basically is a teenager who doesn't know shit while thinking he does and therefore he is stubborn. One amusing thing I stumbled upon was some kid on a youtube vid commented on the Saber v Beserker fight ranting about how some minor details were different from the VN and eventually went on to say how great and awesome Shirou is and that he can totally identify with him because he also has a dad who tried to be a hero/be good to people and was betrayed and shit on. So this guy also wants to be like his dad/shirou. It was literally the 1st time I ever seen someone passionately like the character lol. | ||

Everyone who's vocal about it, both in irc and in this thread are from Canada or the US iirc? The guys that said it's somewhat creepy or not creepy at all were all people from non english speaking countries and like I said, it just doesn't carry any emotion for me despite perfectly understanding the meaning. I might have had a problem with it had it been in german, who knows but honestly, if you can see stuff like Eminem cussing about eating *insert something I apparently shouldn't say* and ripping people appart by doing so on TV like... 10~11pm on german TV I'm not even sure if that'd be the case. Think that interview was from 2009? I mostly thought it was funny and not creepy Edit: shouldn't type after 3am  | ||

hmm fair points everyone. I can see why he isn't liked much considering the stuff you guys wrote and some of the stuff Sent mentioned I recall hearing him say in UBW which are sexist. Ya, XenOmega, he seems to do that quite a lot lol. He was trying to get stronger in UBW at least so I can't hold the weak part over him.
