Goes both ways ![]() Pretty much the case really, he started her out by kind of setting her as a foil against Kirino and isolated her from the events involving Kirino for that reason. However, the focus of the first 3 vols was on Kirino and her relationship with her family and peers. So while jimiko got some time in those vols, they were extremely brief and she was only allowed to interact with Kyousuke. The only tie-in she managed to get in early on was a random one with Ayase at some point. (Now that I think about it, that wasn't even meant for jimiko, that was for Ayase-Kyousuke relationship) Then, compound that with how as the foil to Kirino and representation of that 'quiet life' Kyousuke wants, her character is extremely flat and have very little development over time. The usual osananajimi bs of liking someone but can't confess out of fear of changing the status quo. So by vol 4 and 5 it is like...we've seen everything that she can do, and it isn't much. The author probably realizes that and tries to put her in a bit more in relation to other characters, especially with the whole massive update on setting in vol 5, but the focus is on another character because she simply catches everyone's eyes more. By 6 and 7 every time I see jimiko show up instead of Ayase, Saori or Kuroneko, I am like baaah more of the same bs. So here we have a character with about 0 development from vol 1 to 7 and is plain by character design. That doesn't bade well for the character. We are left with the only way of salvaging the whole affair, random pointless moe. Just as well for jimiko that such things sell and the meganekko/osananajimi niche is apparently necessary, or else she would probably get axed. EDIT - lol jimiko's sole function in vol 7 was like to call Ayase and tell her something. That's all she did. Amazing.

Anime that I have watched or still currently watching: - Naruto (pre-shippuuden awesome except fillers) - Bleach (meh) - Death Note (probably one of best ever) - FMA (the old one still watching the new ones) - Gundam series - One Piece (who in their damn minds doesn't watch this ><) Those are the ones that stick out but since I've been re-discovering my passion for anime I want to watch some more exciting anime like the above :D

Being one of the only character that hasn't really changed from the initial personality protrayed, there's always this tension that...maybe Mamami is someone scary! The anime/manga depictions are pure cuteness but I found a couple pictures of Manami in the LN absolutely terrifying..her eyes are like 90% black with this dense dark look...creature of the Abyss... Didn't help when Kuroneko modeled her as the final boss (and since Kuroneko was spot on with Kirino IMO, she may be very well be the final boss!). But yeah...when the type of death traps set by Kirino in Vol4 on Kyosuke and Manami didn't quite get ANY drama worthy response, Manami's stock as a major character has fallen significantly.

Considering events in vol 7, even the author recognizes that if we needed a yandere, Ayase fits the bill better. By being manipulative on top of yandere and capable of flirting with Kyousuke, jimiko just fades out of the picture completely. So what happens? Events happen, jimiko is on scene, doesn't do anything, calls Ayase instead. How far one can fall from what was originally major character status.

Recently check up on LN sales in Japan, apparently things like spice and wolf, oreimo etc are really just the 'flavour' of the month with between 1-3m copies sold total to date. Of the top 10 I've only read Juuni Kokki, which is pretty good I must say. Some of the top 10s sold 10s of millions. That does say though there's a pretty big LN market in Japan with popular authors earning multi-millions easily.
