I never liked the anime that was on TV when I was younger and basically the only stuff I have watched are Ghibli movies, which I really liked. Now I watched "Attack on Titan" and it was really awesome as well and the first anime series that I enjoyed. I am looking for series that create a really awesome and foreign world with strange creatures like in Nausicaa, Attack on Titan etc or strange stuff like a moving castle etc...I think you catch my drift. Basically if the series could have been created with real actors (without putting millions into CGI) I am not interested in it. | ||

VRMMO world with monsters and a floating castle (well not moving, but still castle), and tentacle lab researcher rofl. This one may be a love-it-or-hate-it though. For ongoing anime, as BurningSera recommended, Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis and Cross Ange are good. For completed one, may be you can try Code Geass | ||

Sounds like you basically want things that fall under the Fantasy and Sci-fi genre tags. Claymore, Noein, Ghost in the shell, Seirei no Morbito, Shin Sekai Yori, Last Exile and Log Horizon. Those are prob the easier of the recommended ones for you. As for space opera, well that's a well known term even in Western Sci-fi. Shows like Battlestar Galatica, Star wars, Star Trek would fall under that. Firefly as well but that's possibly a bit too interpersonal. | ||

I am just suggesting what i think people who are new in anime will mostly like . It has fantasy ,scifi and dark elements like some of the shows you said you liked. Try this anime's(not sure if you have seen this but i'll just throw out what i can): Cowboy Bebop ( it's in space age ) FMA: BH and/or FMA Code Geass Gundam Seed | ||
