If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |
Madoka ending is certainly a weak one, and given how Rebellion could potentially be worse (in a sense), I think I would put it on hold first before watching it and go on ranting again.
Anyway I start to catch up with the current season, with SAO2 up to date, and Nozaki-kun being next target. SAO2/GGO feels a bit weak, despite having some beautiful sceneries. Nozaki-kun, on the other hand, looks top-notch. just ep2 so far but it's already super hilarious and over the top crazy.
Also I notice that Aldnoah and Psycho-Pass are written by Urobuchi, same as Madoka. Are they any good? I saw a lot of Aldnoah discussion in previous page, although mostly focus on Hime-sama, but how bout Psycho-Pass. Probably only have time to pick up either one, with the other one on marathon list for a later date

Nozaki-kun never stops the awesome.

I suppose this is just tangently related to anime, but is anyone else here watching Blue Blazes? A friend of mine recently got me to try it out, and its really good. Its especially good depending on how much you have seen of late 70/early 80s anime/manga.

I can probably finish watching a back logged series before Fall season starts because once Fall starts there's too many shows to hopefully keep up with while watching a whole series. So it's either Mahouka which I am like 5 episodes in, right before the terrorists attack or Gosick which I watched the first episode of last night. Both have super smart characters. One has detective like qualities and the other has Hayamin harem.

Do you mean BlazBlue? Or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Blazes
I don't see how either would fit.

I wouldn't watch either if you are looking for smart characters

I checked out the recommendations chart, but I guess I need more specific advice. Not at all interested in watching any more series with teenage main characters. Other than that I'm open to pretty much any type of show.
Series I enjoyed the most so far were Katanagatari and Cowboy Bebop if that helps.

Would be helpful if you have a list of stuff you already watched, but Black Lagoon would be a good place to start.

Never watched Gosick so can't say much there but if you like the whole OP character that has all girls swooning for him, you'll love Mahouka haha. Having said that, I'm enjoying it though I feel this last arc has been a bit boring for my taste. The school competition was fun to watch :D Can't say much but I think it's worth a try (more episodes!).

Aldnoah isn't written by Urobuchi.
Psycho-Pass is basically 1984 / Brave New world with more pew-pew. It's certainly a lot better than a lot of shows and there's a season two coming out in fall. I recommend to watch the 10 extended 1-hour episodes that just recently finished airing if you wanna see it.

gosick is great when the overarching plot starts becoming more cohesive the recurring mysteries in every episode were pretty banal, you could guess the culprit for the large majority of them.

Before you watch 1. First episode sets you up sets you up for how ridiculous shit is. About the fighting + Show Spoiler + 2. You will literally see motherfuckers with guns pointed right at each other from close range, and not hit one another. You will see the most ridiculous shit of a room full of dudes pointing a gun at a stationary target, before this person even pulls their own gun out, and still get raped. 3. 1st season is weakest 2nd season is p solid.
Despite that, I really enjoyed the second season quite a bit & the third was ok too.

fate/stay night just keeps getting better and better

Neither of those. Definitely not BlazBlue lol. Maybe you would recognize it as "Aoi Honoo"? Its an adaption of a manga by the same name.
|
I'll probably just watch a few more episodes of Mahouka and see where the cards fall. I can also try Humanity has Declined or Working S2 since a third season is in the works

Jintai is by far the best of the bunch.

Not an anime, a live action adaption (which is why I called it tangently related). Its pretty good, even for live action. Reminds me a lot of something like Gundam Sousei.
