The purpose of most anime is to promote the source material... You can't really blame anyone but japanese people to buy and watch more anime. Most anime have terrible ratings, sales, and are on a midnight or late night time slot for a reason you know...

Meh, it is just sad that the conditions of the industry makes it more appealing to make halfassed adaptations that might as well as be only for promotion when they can be trying to pump out things that actually add value with mediamix and change of medium.
Unfortunately the ones that do get money pumped in like that also tends to be the trashy stuff, but still.

I don't get why Manga/LN are embraced more but anime isn't when a lot of the time the later is adapting the former.
|
Pretty simple reason. One costs 6 bucks, the other 60.
|
Well if you watch it on tv its basically a free byproduct of your cable bill + watch online.
|
Well it doesn't stop people from watching anime obviously...but the costs for anime still restricts purchasing bd/dvds.

Because not everyone wants to stay up till 1am or even 11pm to watch anime.

hmm, imo, i think this has to do with a sort of "my pace" thing. Anime is 30 minutes counting commercials and without fast forward or reverse. While a manga or LN is basically how long you wanna make it. Also, guess which option people would wanna buy in an economic recession. The $6 book or the $60 2-3 episode blu-rays

If you care even slightly you can watch late night animes easily.
You just don't care 60bucks worth of care.

Its not like buying BDs should be the end all, TV shows here the states don't rely on those kind of sales. If they made quality stuff that attracts large audiences then the advertising dollars should make BD sales just the cherry on top. I was more talking about general attitudes towards the two mediums though as Manga/LN seem to be a more acceptable medium of entertainment than anime.
|
Addressed on irc, but the prejudice is just more extreme to people who care enough to dish out more money for dvds and stuff. It is just a question of how into things one is perceived to be, unfortunately the power levels of late night anime dvds is pretty damn high.
You can always be good at soccer and have a roomful of love live goods and no one would even dare raise any objection.

BB is a LN. Can only presume he means that they cut stuff out and such to make it fit into one cour (sped up pace like BB).

Black Bullet is originally an ln. There is a decent manga adaptation, but it got axed recently.

Ding ding ding, you are correct :3... I know animes run on budget... But when you convult the story and change things around, the world rules suddenly don't make sense. Leaves holes in plot, or makes characters look like they are doing illogical or stupid things. Also the manga of black bullet was done by morino hon... He is an doujin artist of mostly Touhou, so I'm not that surprised he ended it. That being said. I'm a huge fan of him ever since his take on Alice's dolls in Touhou. BB light novel is on 7 volumes, I expect at least 10 total, the anime finished up to 4 total. Yea I've been burned by anime ending originals too often... Claymore and deadman wonderland come to mind. Tokyo Kushu takes patience to build up, and that's why I HATE what the anime is doing. At least Chaika was good... Come sooner fall orz, summers been kind of dry for me... Barakomon is good but doesn't satisfy the adventure part of anime I crave.

Tokyo Ghoul:
+ Show Spoiler +Well the creepy "high society" guy is a pretty common trope but I got to say they did a pretty good job at it.

+ Show Spoiler [Argevollen] +Looks like revenge to me lol. I'm sure he'll change his mind before he kills the guy who killed his sister though. Also, telling Jamie she'll be fired if she doesn't stick around. Well, if it really can't be reset, then I guess they have no option. Would think resetting it shouldn't be hard to do when you consider just how advanced the tech is and it 'seems' simple enough. Regardless, glad that he was given the ok to act as he wishes with it.
Glasslip: + Show Spoiler +Here comes the drama with that misunderstanding! lol. Well, you didn't say you like david after all. Also, lol at that date My guess is that Touko might end up with Yukinari for a while because of what she saw. David might end up with Yanagi for a bit (despite how odd it looks) but then they break up and Touko goes with David, Yukinari with Yanagi (maybe after a good confession) and Sachi with Hiro. Seems like that's the pairing they are going for.
