If I wanted an manipulative bitch that's actually awesome, Hagihara Shiogi all the way. Animate Zaregoto series pleaseeee. FMP is KyoAni's worst selling series because it is KyoAni though, if we put the popularity to some other production studio I recall the numbers are still stacked quite favorably for FMP. Even Kanon 2006 beat FMP!? I'm so, so sad.

![]() If FMP actually is Kyoto's worst selling series, then that just shows how astonishingly successful the company has been over the past several years. FMP, Air, Haruhi, Lucky Star, Kanon, Clannad + AS, K-On! That's an absurdly strong lineup over the span of like, 5 years. Edit -- Haruhi is amazing because it's essentially a parody of anime that still works if you take it seriously. For example, + Show Spoiler + the space battle scene is totally absurd -- the midi version of Shostakovitch's 7th symphony, the loopy dialogue, the crews that mock their characters. But despite all that, it is still a really really good space battle scene. Or the kiss scene that subverts all stereotypical kiss scenes -- Kyon's line is totally unromantic and it's not even clear he's kissing out of love. Yet the scene is still totally epic and remarkable. rant rant rave rave

Shit the game won't work in 64bit environment right? T2T was the best example imo, though Utawarerumono to PS2 and PSP also got prettier me thinks. Aselia also had improvement for the expansion thing.

+ Show Spoiler + ![]() I dunno there're some VNs with pretty bad artwork out there, especially older ones and smaller companies. I'd say for the most part things have gotten better, though. I mean, Tsukihime is pretty bad too :p

At the moment it's definitely strongest writing/story I've encountered in a VN, and that's saying a lot considering how critical I usually am with these things. Writing, presentation, everything was just spot on for the main route (I hear the others are not so good, which drags down the game's rating, which I hereby call the Little Busters/DEARDROPS syndrome). It puts all the band manga/anime to shame. And I wish I had the technical expertise to translate this route (yeah I'm irresponsible like that and don't care about the rest of the game). God, I don't usually keep VNs after I've read them but this is gonna sit tucked on my HD for sure. It was pretty short too, like 8 hours? Far cry from the 20+ hour gargantuan that was Muramasa. Edit: + Show Spoiler [synopsis] + It's about a world-class violinist (#2 chair in German Phil) who caused an incident that caused him to leave the classical music world in shame. After being hammered by the media and ripped up by guilt, he returns home to start his life over, trying to fill in the gap left by 20 years of focusing solely on the violin. Having left the country after Middle School, the only people he knows is the family of an old friend, whom own a liveshop. By circumstance, he ends up picking up the electric guitar to help someone who needs bodies for a live performance, tries to learn it in a week, but is frustrated when, to no surprise, he's left behind by this bassist, and the drummer, who's the owner of the liveshop he's working at during the performance - he's only been working at it for a week, after all, and both of them are old guys who've been playing their instrument for decades. This, compounded with the shame and regrets from his failed violin life, leads him to want to crack his fist against a concrete wall, to destroy it and wipe away his regrets. ![]() "Have you ever seriously punched concrete? You haven't, have you? You don't even know how much that hurts." "You should try playing in a band, in seriousness." "Maybe it wasn't a coincidence that you ended up playing the guitar." "You've got things going on, don't you? I'm not probe and dig. I don't care." "But right now, if you're wanting to slam into something, or don't have anywhere to go, or have some sort of frustration that's building up inside of you..." "Right now, you should do rock." "Don't run. Fight. Don't stop playing music." And the story begins... Edit2: Two more screenies with wonderful messages that you can't read, just for kicks. Ecael shouldn't check them until he's done. + Show Spoiler + ![]() "I finally found something important to me. That our encounter wasn't just a coincidence. That something really precious started." (She's talking about the band, sorry for the ambiguity.) ![]() "The one thing I can say is that, a happy ending only comes to those that embrace destiny. So you shouldn't ever turn away from the destiny in front of you."

Unfortunately I'm Japanese, I just live in the US. Sorry ![]() I'd very much love to translate the main route for this one but I don't have the technical expertise for it and I feel like it'd be a real hassle to try to figure it out, LOL. Double sorry.

![]() I liked Tears to Tiara. I actually prefer their PC version art rather than the PS3 version art. The PC version had a unique look that the PS3 version lacks.

It's unsurprising, really, but still disappointing.
