That's because Saki is based on moe? Honestly with that kind of a focus I wonder if it even falls under seinen.

Actually, why did you classify Saki as seinen? (Didn't notice this earlier)
The manga was featured on Young Gangan, which is a seinen magazine. Also, by using mahjong, you are probably reaching towards the seinen demographic. Although the involvement of high school characters and much lighter story tone, you could probably classify it as in between shonen and seinen (more towards seinen).
Well the only reason I see this being featured in a seinen magazine is because it's Mahjong... but considering the genre, I see this leaning more towards shounen (come on, moe, big boobs, yuri, not-so-serious plot, how is that all seinen lol)
exactly. just by having mahjong as the plot device makes it seinen. The other elements are added to reach the lower age bracket (late teen early 20s) of the seinen demographic.
Also, I would regard yuri as been more seinen. You wouldn't see much yuri in shonen manga - actually I can't think of any right now...
Forgot one thing: has anyone seen Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea? If so how would you rate it? I would watch it when there is a dvd rip of it out just because it's by Hayao Miyazaki anyway. But interested to see what everyone thought of it.
Anyone following jojo Steel ball run? I have a question about blackmore's power. His stand's power is to stabilize the rain. How does this allow him to like break apart his body and reassemble it? Also, I looked at his fight with + Show Spoiler +
mountain tim multiple times, but I dont get how he beats him. Does he stabilize the rain and use it to cut up tim? I duno. Someone explain it to me plz ~_~
Just wanted to throw out a random rant about K-On!
It really pisses me off how Yui is able to play something like this: (see from 0:55 - 1:10)
Everyone always says K-On! is inspiring them to play guitar/drums/etc., but IMO it's pretty discouraging to see a mildly retarded highschool freshman girl play incredible, difficult guitar riffs with little to no effort. after only 1 year of playing. with no musical background. oh yeah, and she sings at the same time
Honestly, the "practice" scenes are almost insulting, compared to what is actually required to get that good at guitar. for the sake of not sounding too elitist (I know I already am, a little), I won't go into detail though...
On brighter note, a guy on youtube requested an easy chord tutorial for playing fuwa fuwa time. so I went ahead and made one since the song is still stuck in my head anyway
Except that's the point, you are supposed to both sigh at how Yui is and how much talent she has, I'd kill for perfect pitch and the ability to replicate music from hearing it so few times. Elitist should come after being a lover of music, where at least you are getting more people exposed and wanting to pick up an instrument. The anger can come when the wimps realize how hard it actually is and give up.
This isn't supposed to be like Beck, it is a slice of life comedy based on a 4koma not unlike Lucky Star. If you want to complain about Yui, just claim Azusa or Mio as superior, after all, those two practice. Probably Mugi too (I mean she won contests), but that's the classical piano player in me talking :p
