If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Lucumo, your list is a huge troll. El Cazador 3 and Mahou Shoujo and Aquarian Age 4? Don't make me laugh, especially when you have Geass as your most treasured show... How are the characters there more mature?

I concur.

Production values look off the charts too, Madhouse really went all out on this one.

The manga is really good, and follows a good plot so far, though It doesn't give a sense of the end anywhere, could be a good thing could be a bad thing. ANyone know if the anime is following the Manga ?

The manga ratings were pretty accurate so far. Such a "low" score is rather unusual.
It depends on the reason why it's a "must watch". The people probably just don't really care about the ending or they think it's not worth it, despite its...originality.

A score of 3 after six episodes. Also, El Cazador de la Bruja was bad in every way imaginable. I liked Noir and even Gunslinger Girl was fine...Madlax was kinda ok, but El Cazador is just horrible. A hentai like Mahou Shoujo Ai with a rating of 4, looks perfectly fine. The characters, the story or anything else isn't good enough to boost it any higher. Aquarian Age definitely had mature characters, but that alone doesn't make a good show. Well, AA is probably worth a 5, but that's it. There was nothing appealing in it, nothing I enjoyed, nothing interesting. Like I said: Those alone don't make a good anime/manga. That's why it's fine that the Code Geass characters are simply mature and not mature mature. But to find the latter....good luck. Such characters are way more uncommon.
btw: Mature characters can think and act according to different situations. They say and do the right things. Dumb characters can't think by themselves and they act according to the result(which is retarded) and if you really pay attention, you can notice it.

/edit: And don't forget the other kind of dumb characters...those are simply dumb, nothing behind it(Ragnarok the Animation is good example for that -.-).

Seriously, if Highschool of the Dead has a single L4D reference in it I will be stupidly happy for a week.

I have never been hooked like this off of a single episode.

I don't see what's so bad about El Cazador. It was a very refreshing traveling anime, I liked it more than Madlax. And Mahou Shoujo Ai has a lot of tentacles and silly penetration so I don't see how you can keep it at a 4.

And I don't understand how Code Geass characters are mature. They're extremely exaggerated in every possible aspect.

In any case, judging by your list there are lots of 'mature' shows with 'mature' characters which you haven't seen. Boogiepop Phantom, Aoi Bungaku Series, Casshern Sins, Monster (lol), Kino's Journey, Natsume Yuujinchou, Mushishi, Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror, Kemonozume and so on... But I'm a bit hesitant to recommend any of them to you since you seem to favor those silly action/plot-turn shows like Code Geass and Death Note incredibly.

Who did those subs? I watched Ryuumaru's, and their subs seem to match the dialogue in the 4koma more than whatever group you used. I guess the intent of the lines is essentially the same, but it's just a little more, uh, subtle?

Highschool of the Dead, fuck yeah. :D

Huh? There is no way you can consider this a good anime. It's just so bad. And it's not like I'm the only one who thinks so. It was voted as the most disappointing anime in 2007(it got 40% in a forum with an average age of 23.1). This definitely makes my impression more objectively. What you said about Mahou Shoujo Ai, that's no reason at all. I already said it earlier, I rate hentai and anime in the same way.

No, they aren't. They sure are unrealistic, but this doesn't make them less mature. And I already stated earlier, what "mature" means.

*sigh* Another thing I've already written earlier. Some series are hard to obtain, so I couldn't watch anime like Monster. Some anime are on my "will watch" list. MAL's list doesn't matter in that way. Anime rated 8-10 are really good, so I don't favor anime like this over anything else. If you would watch the ratings, those are special cases. Man, you are either ignorant or you want to annoy me.

/edit: I updated my "plan to watch"-list. Now, it consists of anime I will definitely watch and anime I will eventually watch(which means, that these are all the anime I recognized).

Did you not like it, or did you feel it just needed to be wrapped up?

Also, I heard something about a movie for this? I wonder what filler material will be used for this..

I liked it, except for the blatant shounen dialogue and encouragement which occurred frequently. I know it has to be like that, but it feels sillier and sillier each time they come back from hopelessness into an invincible moment of strength in the blink of an eye. It's embarrassing...

But if I just write that it sounds a bit harsh, I mean overall the entertainment was pretty good and kick-ass, it slowed down a bit too much toward the end but at least it kept you glued with plot turns and suspense moments to make you wait for the next episode.

And Bones doesn't seem too bad at making 'fillers'. I remember when I watched the original FMA I couldn't differ between the 'real' stories and the ones that didn't exist in the manga. I thought they weaved it in well.

I actually felt the same way, but I kinda overlooked it, since it's so common.

Who subbed this? Is this ep 1? I don't remember those lines. o_o

either way, this looks like it'll be pretty entertaining.

ehhhh I had found a wiki or something that linked to what group was translating what project for this season...let me lurk a bit to try and find it -_-

edit: im so fucking good:
http://www.fansubwiki.com/Who_Subs_What:_SUMMER_2010
Seitokai Yakuindomo Animation Studio: GoHands Episodes: 13 Groups Subbed/Planned: Ryuumaru, God-Speed Subs

although from the screencaps on their sites I don't think I was watching either of their translations(font isn't the same at all):

I don't know cause the subs I have in the screencaps don't match either groups who stepped up to do it. I watched it on WAO and I tried to find the source but I'm too much of a scrub to have found it
(All I see is it's from hidden-anime.com redirected from the ecchi-anime.com banner that pops in some of my screencaps. Idk if they have a sub group but they don't seem to credit anything they host so yeah, I have no effing clue)

the zombies and gore were already making the show awesome enough, who would've thought throwing abit of sexuality in it would make it so much more epic lol...

never actually liked the zombie genre, but gonna give this a thumbs up since u don see anime zombie all the time.

High School of the Dead episode is indeed nice, I just wrote a relatively spoiler-free review for it on the blog in my sig. There's also a quick primer on the series since I have been following it on manga for a while now.

Glad there's something I can watch this season.

The anime for Monster was excellent, but if you can't get it, consider just reading the manga. The anime pretty much follows the manga exactly.

Yes obviously my ulterior motive is to annoy you. It just feels like you take yourself way too seriously. I just thought it was silly how you ascribed the word mature as means of quality.

Yes obviously my ulterior motive is to annoy you. It just feels like you take yourself way too seriously. I just thought it was silly how you ascribed the word mature as means of quality.

That's mean
Why do you think so? Everyone has a different sense of quality. Some people feel that fanservice, ecchi and lolicon stand for quality and for me, "mature" characters indicate good quality.

I like the lord of the flies type of shows provided they at least show up in the other categories.

The anime for Monster was excellent, but if you can't get it, consider just reading the manga. The anime pretty much follows the manga exactly.

Hm, I always prefer anime over manga, so that would be my last choice to do. The good thing is that I still have some options left...will see how it turns out.

Not trying to annoy you, but I think I missed your definition of "mature" somewhere along the line. Because, if you think Code Geass is 'mature', then we must have two different definitions for the word.

It depends. Maybe your definition of "mature" is my "mature mature". I tried to explain earlier, what "mature" means and also defined the two kinds of "dumb" characters.

/edit: This definition only applies to anime/manga...but that should be obvious.
