I enjoyed Shirafuji's character as well, but yea, beyond those three it's the same gags over and over again with minimal development (and even with development they manage to work in the same exact gag in). Actually even with Souma, Souta, and Shirafuji it's the same fucking gags, except their gags were actually half decent.
and suddenly sad If they killed of Takao I'll be seriously mad. At least have her mental model still around onboard, that's the most important part of the anime wtf
wow ya wtf. I figured she can use the nanomaterials from the ship but her mental model will stick around but it doesn't seem like it? I mean, doesn't a battleship have more nanomaterials than a submarine? Seems like she just merged with Iona so Iona is back but much better than before(more processing power at least) and Takao used everything she had. I guess in a way, he is also her captain now though I don't she was thinking of it in that sense. Here's the thing though. Can't they just do what they did with Kirishima? Put her core in something since that should remain live in all the previous cases we've seen and she can use it since it wouldn't require nanomaterials or is this totally different? Honestly, looking at it from her perspective, she realized that Iona already beat her to Gunzou and that he will never be her captain but since she loved him and wanted to save him, she sacrificed herself to make sure Iona lives since she reasoned it would be his wish. Having said that, I don't know if it would be his wish. He wanted Iona to abandon him and live on but not for Takao to sacrifice herself for Iona to live on.
I'm glad they didn't end up killing Gunzou or Iona tbh because I feel that if either one died, it would make for a more powerful show but it would kill the strong interaction between them that's been building up since the beginning of the show. The moments they had together as it was sinking were probably the closest they've had. Iona crying wasn't unexpected, same with the alone part once you consider the situation. I think Takao will eventually come back. I don't feel like they've completely taken her out of the picture. She will likely end up like Kirishima at least by the end of the show. I just can't see them leaving her out but they needed a fix and a sacrifice made it that much powerful. Iona also seems to be a lot more powerful now.
Kongo and Maya though, would've never imagined that Kongo would not be the flagship anymore and that Maya would be a puppet. Definitely surprising since it seems like 400 and 402 have control of the whole situation. Wonder if the yamato character that I heard about would eventually show up since two submarines can't possible be the leader of the fog then again, surprise? lol. Can't wait for the next show, to see the reunion of everyone and hopefully good news about Takao.

I think the core is still there but there's no nanomaterial to reconstruct the mental model. ya, that was pretty rough for Kongo. I guess now she feels alone and finally understand them.

Takao might make an appearance in the last episode of the season. I highly doubt it's going to happen before that and to be honest I don't even think it's all that likely that she'll appear in the end of the season either but it could be. It does look like they're trying to go roughly the same way the manga did just in a different fashion, as in I think the end results should be the same but if it takes too much screentime they'll change stuff to make it fit. + Show Spoiler [manga only but not really a spoiler] +
Takao is still makeing appearances in the manga but it's complicated as she's been taken captive in there and therefore isn't with the blue fleet.
That being said, can't really gauge how likely it is for takao to make an appearance... if they're trying to get back to the mangaplot not before long into s2 if at all. If they're going for a cliché happy end she'll probably show up in the last episode of this season.
About the 2 subs, yeah you're right about that I'll put it in a spoiler again although it doesn't really spoil anything but it's manga only + Show Spoiler [the two subs] +
They're part of Yamato's crew, Yamato is the leader of the eastern division as a whole which consisted of 3 fleets: Yamato's fleet, Hyuugas (before anime) fleet that ended up as Kongou's fleet and I think Nagato's fleet would be the last. The two subs are yamatos subordinates, as is Kongou btw.
Btw Takao's a Heavy Cruiser not a battleship but yes, I would have thought she had enough nanomaterials to make Iona, 401 and herself (the mental model) but that's apprently not the case... and yes the new 401 does look a lot more fancy so she probably got upgrades with the spare nanomaterials instead of Takao mental model
Also there's no way to feel bad for Kongou, that bitch is the reason we're in the situation we're in
Never gave a fuck from manga, still can't give a fuck in anime. Sadly that doesn't mean there is anything else worth giving a fuck about in anime either~

She's had the most change so far in the anime and it was slower so it feels more natural so to speak compared to Takao or Hyuuga who are tied for the most dramatic XD

hmm maybe not, hard to tell. Isn't the anime one cour though? Doesn't that mean like 2 more episodes before it finishes or something? I hope they extend it to another cour and add more from the manga(or their own twists) if that's the case. Ya, makes sense. Would explain why I heard some parts are similar to manga and others are different. Probably same ending as well or maybe lol.
well, at least we agree that she'll make an appearance again. As long as it's not at the end of the anime(end of first season is fine though), then I'm satisfied lol. We need more Takao action! XD I actually thought that now that Iona is out of commission, Takao will led them but first, they'll obviously find a way to rescue Iona and Gunzou. Too bad my prediction wasn't right lol but seeing Iona willing to sacrifice herself(mental model which is quite big) to make sure that Gunzou lives even if she's not with him was very heart warming and I'm glad that they are back together. Takao will come back, I don't doubt it. Read your spoiler, interesting. I won't ask for more details since I plan to read the manga when I get time to do so, so I don't want to spoil myself lol.
Only heard about yamato from someone in this thread but figured it's best to wait until either they reveal it or I read manga. Not sure if I'll end up reading the spoiler but thanks for the mention. ya, true, heavy crusier, not battleship my bad. Well, maybe she debated it and figured that it's best she puts everything into it to help Gunzou and Iona with a stronger 401 then have her there like Haruna which is only a mental model. It's not as helpful against a heavy crusier or battleship when you are a mental model even though you still have the abilities(can't get to America in this case without a ship). It's ok, they are just building up excitement when we get Takao back. Btw, if she's back to being the core, can she still hear what they say and such? I mean, I recall Haruna communicating with Kirishima when she was just a core so it's just that she can't talk or see Gunzou and the rest anymore, mostly communication.
She is trying to hold onto her old self. Can't blame her for sticking to the admirality code. I would say she's the interesting one since you can see her unraveling slowly. Everyone else, they fell in love with Gunzou or Iona right after they got sunk but it's taking it's time with Kongou. As a side question, she isn't the flagship anymore but she still has control of her ship? It didn't seem like it at the end with the errors and such but wasn't sure.
Sad for Kongou. She was playing the villain role, and now she just got raped... So I guess her only redemption is joining blue fleet? If she has been relieved of duty, that probably means that someone is even higher ranked than her...
I was really hoping Gunzou would die. All that build-up... I feel cheated -_-

ya, I believe there is someone, not much details without manga though lol. Gunzou and Iona are the heart of the show. They'll never die! (I hope lol). I guess you can blame Takao since technically, no one else was going to be able to rescue them and Gunzou would've stayed and eventually died down there if she didn't save them.

The Western Planet and the Eastern Planet. Once upon a time, the two sides were bound by the "Dragon Pulse" spanning the heavens.
The civilization that once had prospered has now turned to a tale of dreams, as the inextinguishable flames of war tear the realm asunder. The two planets remain engulfed in endless battles.
The return of the super technology known as "sacred treasures" could revolutionize the world order, but no one knows of them but one person—a "heretical girl."
A girl from the Western Planet, Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, saw heavenly visions of the birth of a "Star Messiah" who will save the world. She embarks on a journey to the Eastern Planet with Leonardo da Vinci, "the one who observes the world." They come across the heretic of the Eastern Planet and "the greatest fool of the day," Oda Nobunaga.
Additionally, Sugita is playing Leonardo da Vinci. And Jeanne d'Arc is a really hot blonde. Other cast members include Julius Cesaer, Alexander the Great, Megellan, and a bunch of Sengoku Jidai dudes.
What can we expect from this anime? I got no fucking clue, Kawamori is insane. Hes capable of really good anime, and hes also perfectly capable of things like Macross Frontier and AKB0048. But if there is one thing we can be sure of, is Kawamori loves triangles. Triangles of all sorts. There will be a love triangle in this. Mecha will probably combine like triangles. Triangles will triangle all over the place while triangling. If there is a girl with green hair in this anime, she will lose at something. And not only will she lose, she will suffer. A lot.
Also, this is going to be a Satelight CG Mecha anime. They were the ones who did Macross Frontier, Aquarion, AKB0048, and MLA:Total Eclipse, to give you an idea of what sort of CG to expect. I don't mind that, but I know there are some people who are kinda nuts about what CG they will tolerate.
Here is PV:
The actual trailer starts at 2 minutes 20 seconds. I got no clue what the dude is saying for the first 2 minutes.
No idea if this anime will be good or not, but it has my attention at the least.
WTF is the Arpeggio team up to D: at this stage i cant tell if the show is good or not with all these anime original stuffs, but i dont like what i am seeing at all. Poor Kongo and + Show Spoiler +
if they really killed off Takao then they are retarded.
The series will only have 12 episodes so probably it was just a way to throw in some story before that (that dying scene feels forceful), the show should end with they are heading to americaland etc. + Show Spoiler +
Takao should be fine -_- Maybe even better, now that we have IonaXTakao, physically lol.
Gunpla so blood pumping T_T so good. is like a TransAm2.0 lol.
Best ep so far. I feel all fuzzy and happy and comfy. All the best characters for a full 20 minutes, almost too good to be true.
[14:09:09] <Elementaryschool> pff souma [14:09:13] <Elementaryschool> i just wanna like [14:09:25] <Elementaryschool> sit in the grass and talk shit with candy store and nee-nee all day [14:09:30] <Elementaryschool> that'd be gr8 life
Did Arpeggio get enough pre-sales to guarantee a second season or reboot from this 'bad end' or something?
I mean I know we went complete anime original, but they're in the middle of the sea, nowhere near America and being hounded by 400 and 402.
That said I would laugh so freaking hard if the near death experience makes Gunzo re-live Facility 4 in ep11 and then ep12 ends the season with + Show Spoiler [minor manga?] +
Yamato
turning up. I mean... Someone has to turn up to take responsibility of 400 and 402 right?
