 , it was a good show but I didn't like hitomi most of the time she was a tad on the too whiny side, like girl shinji but she didn't pilot giant machines to make up for it. I liked both, would recommend them to anyone really. Started watching a couple of romcoms/shoujo shows and one I couldn't keep watching it and the other one is too meh for me to care finishing it. Hana Yori Dango was good at first, VERY old school shoujo type BUT then that dude pretty much tried to rape the main character and while she was really upset about it at first, after a while she was like omg but such a tender kiss. FUCK OFF THAT'S NOT HOW A NORMAL HUMAN BEING WOULD REACT!! :@!, so idk if I want to keep watching the story about a girl who has to choose between a rapist and a non rapist <.<. AS IF it was a hard fucking choice after that rape attempt. Lovely complex is just such a fucking bore, at first it was just fucking hurtful to watch because otani was such a retard who couldn't get a clue, but then he just doesn't like her because she's too tall... sigh and the girl keeeeeeps trying and trying, I keep yelling at her to just go get a tall bf or a decent guy who is not retarded BUT NOPE SHE DOES NOT. So Idk if I'll ever finish that one, I'm at like episode 18 so at this point is like it's like 8 more episode and you're done so just finish it but Risa just deserves A LOT better than this douche and I know they are just going to end up together BECAUSE they are the main characters. Escaflowne and FLCL were 100 times better compared to these, at least they had plots that didn't made me angry. | ||

That's overdone as well. Not that there is anything wrong with these plot elements being commonplace, but the execution is just horrid. No matter how much time they waste with Kongou refusing to acknowledged change, the overall tone of the anime is already set on being ships = bad, being more human-like = good. It might be possible to ignore too if they just get on with it and moved along this line faster, except they want to go through the motions and not actually do any development. Yawn. | ||

I don't get how Homura pulled apart a law with, not a wish like Madoka used to become a law, but... love? And I have no idea if Madoka is a God or a law, because those are pretty different. | ||

Madoka only gets more confusing if you try to think about it anyway, just take everything at their face value and don't think and it might preserve a certain level of sense. | ||

I wouldn't call Lovely Complex a shoujo, these shows are just romcoms which means they are 70% silly comedy 20% romance and 10% awkwardness. Shoujo's amp up the romance and tone down the comedy crap. I have not seen Sakarasou so I can't compare him to that, but he's just REALLY dumb and clueless and even when he's not he's not that great of a person. Really makes you wonder WHY the female lead likes him to begin with, at this point is masochistic that the girl still likes this guy :/.. I really do not want to see the two of them end up together because I think the guy doesn't deserve the girl but I'm like 70% through with the show, so might as well finish it I suppose. I would compare this show to Toradora, promising story, characters, and setting but it all takes a nose dive in quality after a while. | ||

Usually it's just the girl worrying about X, Y or Z which is usually a boy or something to do with the boy or something at school, while the comedy is a small part of it. In the newer stuff EVERYONE is a comedy cliche character, the best friend, classmates, the family etc etc so there are A LOT of situations when comedy happens and only a tiny part is actual romance. Kare Kano had a lot more comedy than I expected but I never felt it was the reason to watch the show or that it got in the way of the actual story like it does for a lot of newer shows. I'm not going to get in a debate over it, BECAUSE of the demographic the shoujo shows usually aims for this is how these shows usually are. Though then again so is Sailor moon but regardless, I think there's the proper romance shoujo and then there's everything else. | ||
