pretty much this. In a way, it's not that bad but although I do tend to prefer animes that deviate from the norm since there is less that can be predicted

Let me ask of those who have seen the Claymore anime: Is the anime ending stupid only because it deviates wildly from the manga to create an ending or is it bad just because its bad.

They took a fight that happens seven years later in the manga and used it as the end for the anime
It ruined any possible continuation and didn't really give much closure

Also yea I read the synopsis of the anime endings and it seems dumb, not even just in the context of "being so wrong for how Claymore actually turns out" but pretty meh if you were to judge it on its own merits without knowing the manga.
I will still give it a watch to see how it looks animated though.

I actually watched the anime before I read the manga. I liked the anime, but after you read the manga you quickly start to go "what the fuck?" for the anime.

Have you started watching s2 again or still not watching? Also don't just watch ep1 and 4 of an arc and skip the inbetween ones, that's just horrible. The nadeko arc was actually really good and the shinobu arc wasn't even shinobu, though I must say I've got no idea how that could possibly be a good thing.
