If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

I already thought there was a White Album2? Or was that just 2nd part of the first season?

This is White Album 2... The anime is just the second season to White Album or whatever it is.

White Album is apparently pretty meh while White Album 2 is "the best romance/Nakige VN ever"

Tokyo ravens looks pretty cool and will be a good fix of Hanakana

Kill La Kill reminds me of Gurren Lagann a bit.

I am guessing they'll reach the first major fight where you see two high level onmyouji duke it out, then either it will be good enough and people will want more or shit CG will butcher it.

Of course, that's only like 5 vols, so like half of part 1 of the series, lawlz.

Actually thinking about it, there is a chance of major major fail and them really not reaching up to scanlation, which is at like the random short stories mode atm and right before what I am talking about. I hope that it won't be so fail as to only hit around there. Black Blood Brother or whatever it is that the author did should've had a kind of ok adaptation iirc? Maybe this won't be too bad. Maybe. Pretty please.

I am not particularly thrilled by the idea of Hanakana playing Natsume personally.

WA picks its readers, WA2 is supposed to be less niche. I see no possible way for it to be a good nakige though, unless you mean that the readers are crying at some of the most pathetic behavior since Shinji.

I am not a fan of the original WA game but I can see why it attracts some people.

I wouldn't wish WA anime upon the worst of my enemies.

Since I failed to find an at least 8/10 fantasy anime yet again, I turned back to drama once more, so I could – hopefully – watch something decent, before I try my luck again. I was told I will surely love Ano Hana (you might recognize it better with its’ original name: Ano adkha iqwzqiw akjdbkasj iahfdka Hana askhdakad adhskdash ashalal), and here are my thoughts on it.

+ Show Spoiler +
The best thing in the anime, is how they handled its’ outro; it actually started while the episode was still rolling, so every time that melody started up, I was like „oh sheeeeet, drama incoming”. And it came, and it delivered. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius, I’m a sucker of it.

The whole concept is like a reversed Clannad. I’ll spare those references that would spoil Clannad, so I’ll just mention the fact, that while in Clannad friends grow up (high schoolers --> young adults), in Ano Hara friends actually go back in time in a certain way (high schoolers --> little kids). In Clannad they are like a big family, with some occasional fallouts, in Ano Hara they are alienated and they have to rediscover their affection towards each other. Hell, I have to mention this spoiler: + Show Spoiler +
Clannad ends with a rebirth, Ano Hara ends with a death; how cool is that??

Menma was great, and thank god she loved Jintae! I was so afraid she would friend-zone him. Can’t say that I expected all those feels when she actually said she loves him in a „let’s marry”-way, though. Makin her character likeable was the make or break for this anime, and I think they did a very good job. She was still a somewhat idolized person (aka almost perfect), but they used it well to reveal how broken everyone else are. The light of her kind heart just made everyone's shadows crawl out.

The jokes were much more down to earth, compared to Angel Beats’, which is sad, because I just loved AB’s totally off the charts comedy Still, it made me laugh pretty hard at some places; like when Menma was so proud she managed to screw up the cooking, even though it’s just been said how easy it should be.

I was holding my ground strong until the very end of episode ten, but when they lit the fuse and the ending song started up, I knew I was going to lose it, lol. Srsly, so cheap… I assumed the very last episode was going to show us the flashback of what happened exactly back then, but by the end of the episode I felt like a moron, since the whole point was to show, that it’s not about who should be blamed for that, but to honor her memory as a friend AND IM ABSOLUTELY NOT GETTING TEARY EYED WHILE TYPING THIS, ROFL, S1 CRACK A JOKE PLZ

Anyway, it wasn’t the only message of the anime, howewer I’d like to talk about something else now. I was wondering that how would someone feel watching this anime, who had experienced something like that. I mean, losing someone from a group of friends, maybe even as a very young one.
I think it must be easier to get over it if it happens when you are still very young, but if you think back about that person, let’s say 10 years later… that must be much more heart-wrecking. Menma had a whole life ahead of her; the only things she did is learning to use the toilet, and making friends. Maybe I’m wrong – hadn’t lost anyone around me –, but if she died 15 years later, I think it would’ve been much less depressing for everyone in the long run, even though they’d understand death better.

So yeah, back to my point… I’m not sure if this 11 episodes would be a relief or salt int he wounds for someone who went through something similiar to this.

Getting too gloomy here, so let’s just rate it already!

Ano Hana 10/10 – Can you tell a good story in 11 episodes? Yes you can.

Now I need another fantasy to torture myself; reviewing good stuff is pretty boring. Can't make fun of the writers, plot holes and useless characters.

Well, Uchouten technically is a fantasy anime, it's the opposite of stuff like SAO (in that casual don't think much of it but people who watch more anime all love it).

welp, i guess i dont count as casual (anymore).

I have been watching hayate no gotoku lately and noticed a severe drop in comedial quality (imo of course) the few episodes after episode 40 (4th season they called it in the anime itself). It felt as if the writer had trouble 'being original' and because of that uses cliched scenario's and lame jokes. I guess it could recover, but i kindof lost interest already.
I noticed the same feeling with other series, like genshiken (after first season), gintama (after episode 210-ish), lucky star (although brilliant, last few episodes felt bland) or minami-ke (after first season).
Have people here noticed the same thing as well, or do i just very easily get tired of the same setting?

edit: i didn't see all series entirely. I haven't seen genshiken very far after season 1 and i only watched season 1 and 2 of minami-ke.

You're saying that comedies eventually run out of jokes? Who would have guessed!

No, i mean that some dry up fast, compared to others.
I was looking for people's opinions on those series and/or opinions on comedies that may have such a longetivity...

I didn't find Ano Hana very good :/
As far as I can remember, it made too much of a big deal out of little, so it ended up getting me less involved. I like when the drama comes from the actual situation and plot, and not "my god this character cries a lot, there must be some sad shit going on...".

That being said, I would probably watch the movie, the visuals were good. And "forced" drama is easier to accept in a 1h30 format.
