The OST didn't come out until after this season started. It counts.

As it is it's like a 7 or 9 depending on preference. And yesterday shauni got in a comment about how Ragz has low standards when Kaal is a freaking saint about this. I liked how it was a little tongue in cheek with regards to all the anime tropes it explored. I liked how it sidestepped becoming a harem story at the end of each arc. And then the goddess arc happened. Originally, I was excited to see how the mangaka was going to handle a long, overarching story. But as it turns out, he really sucks at pacing them. The entire thing took 100 chapters to wrap up, at which point I had lost most of my initial enthusiasm. On top of that, the followup to the goddess arc seems destined to be drawn out as well. I get the distinct impression that the mangaka had a plan on what to do for the goddess arc, but lost his way when trying to extend the projected life of the manga. As for the anime, it's ok. It's not bad, but at the same time, not good enough to hold my attention, having prior knowledge of the story's events. Silly spazer, even the manga is just riding on Haqua anyway, the initial captures were getting pretty retarded after around halfway to two thirds through. Goddess arc had a nice start and quickly lost pace. Current arc is watching slo-mo trainwreck. Good thing Hayamin saves all shows by not getting lines in them.

Ah, but halfway to two thirds through the initial captures was when all the hints about an overarching plot started getting dropped (eg. moving away from the old format that I liked). This was also the point where captures started taking longer. Early arcs generally took somewhere in the range of 3-5 chapters, whereas the travesty that was the godzilla sister arc took 10 chapters. I think we're in agreement here, lol.

My only concern is the animation, it looks so old and bland. It certainly adds a somewhat "mature" feeling to it, but I definetly don't dig it. Cool! I started watching claymore just now too (at ep6). It's pretty good so far, I actually kinda like the 'old' anime feel to it ![]()

On the topic of Claymore - really good series, if you cut near the end. Because the last few episodes were awful and they totally crushed the series. Before them I would give Claymore a rate like 8+/10 even 9/10. But with those... 7/10 max.

While the animation may be different from what we can see nowadays... it's still very good. It didn't bothered me at all... It's like playing an old RPG game and not caring about the graphics

that person is supposed to be Lucy? I agree kinda stupid ending. Especially with the lead up to it. It really doesn't make sense (even the conversation immediately prior) plus too many things left open. Seriously from the anime it basically feels like you throw those girls some kindness and they would be normal (albeit having to learn to live with their power). All we basically have to go on is the word of shady scientists who claim they will auto kill people at age 3... Speaking of which...why do they pigeon hole anime that are made from manga/novels into short 13 episode seasons when they know they will have to butcher the shit out of the story to fit it? Its probably a money game but damn they can do it a lot better then what they end up doing. They do it just fine most of the time but then there are others that clearly are just hack jobs to end it by 13th episode.

Its the same reason you have good and bad in anything.. theres good productions and their are bad ones, you can chalk it down to any reasons, laziness, lack of talent whatever you want, but after a certain level of consumption you dont really question the why's. It just is and thats that..

(I've only seen the first three episodes of first season). At first, the animation was annoying, but i think I can live it... The story is what is keeping me from going on. It feels like Berserk. I train, I beat you. You beat me, but I live, so I train even harder and beat you... Or... You are stronger, but I have the power of friendship so I'm not alone -_-

I try to be as objective as I can be, so I won't say you should give up on Elfen Lied, but Mirai Nikki is almost the same, but with an actual story, characters, story, and ending (though with almost any anime, opinions on the ending is mixed, but the anime's ending is actually better than the manga's there), with less gore, which you don't seem to like. MN is brutal, but not as much as EL. Also, MN is beautiful, if you watch it in 720p or better. I didn't hold it againts Elfen Lied, because it's a much older anime, but Mira Nikki is very colourful and well-detailed. Any other animes (recent ones preferred with 720p+) that are just like Elfen Lied? Took a really long hiatus from anime, and only watched the standard duo + a few others like Death Note, Geass, etc., but the dark/tragic/horror/violence really grasped my attention. I really enjoyed Fate Night Stay (?), Claymore, Proxy something (?).. basically pretty much anything that has a complex plot with action and dark undertones. Any suggestions is appreciated!
