Not like it's a bad thing though.

The end was never meant to be the end, they had a set number of episodes and made the most of it. They could have pulled a Claymore and shit all over the series in just 2 episodes but they didn't, thankfully.

I enjoyed it so so much. I've been told this is odd considering how much I disliked Evangelion. Lain was a pleasant mindfuck though. Eva just annoyed me.

Compare that to the characters of Lain, where you have the multiple personalities of Lain stretching from her initial presentation as a normal school girl, to the Lain of the Wired. I don't think you can necessarily mark any character as weak in Lain. On the other hand, what draws me to Evangelion is, apart from just how mind blowing it was presented thematically and stylistically, the relations among the different characters. I mean when you have the twisted relationship between Gendo, Shinji, Rei/Yui, that's pretty interesting. Lain is the lone crusader of her world, and while that's intriguing on some level, I personally find the dynamics between characters in Evangelion to be much more interesting. On another note related to Lain, I noticed today that Lain spells her name using different characters when she switches personalities. She uses Kanji when she's a school girl, and Katakana when she's on the Wired. The Lain constructed by the Knights uses Roman characters. I don't know any background on the different types of characters in the Japanese language, so is there any thematic relevance or is this just something used to differentiate the different personalities?

Katakana are used for words originally from foreign countries, onomatopoeia, scientific names.. actually I only knew about the first usage. The romaji are directed to foreigners, like tourists or students.. Got any ideas now?

+ Show Spoiler + Wait, I'm so confused. So Anri gave birth to Niekawa's Saika, while Niekawa zombie-fied the entire city population? Is Anri actually killing anyone?

The opening song definitely fit the anime ^^

Seems to me that Saika and Anri have separate consciousness, hence the parasite and the host relationship. Moreover, Anri has never met Niekawa before, as she didn't recognize her in the beginning.
