Actually quite a lot people have problem finishing S;G The first half is pretty slow, and it's not much a draw for people looking for either action / adventure or moe / service. It's much better sell to western crowd than traditional Asian viewer. I stopped at 20 episodes when it was airing because the wait was killing me and I didn't want it to end. Lol. I don't think my heart can handle all these new posters going through the same thing I did ;_;

Could be worse. You could be forced to watch Card Captor Sakura... *shudders*

Edit - I know they return somewhere in Stars, and (of course) after being missing for an entire season, that means their return is more awesome (I hope).
Saturn & Pluto are in about 6 episodes in all of SailorStars each, Uranus & Neptune get more screentime but the director was too busy hating Mamoru to do a good adaptation of the source material. I'm not bitter at all.

I enjoyed True Tears a lot. I came across it when I was looking for the romance type of anime back in the day. But just like the start of S;G it moves pretty slow. So I guess its a fair trade. I also made a bet with my friend that I would watch Code Geass (both seasons) if he would watch Amagami SS. We both never came through with that deal lol. I think ill keep my part of the bargain because I really do want him to watch S;G, lol. For a romance drama, True Tears is really good. Seems pretty fair to watch a 13ep series in exchange for a 24ep series too. At least you aren't being forced to watch Card Captor Sakura.

idk True Tears is pretty bad, should take the chance and slap more things onto s;g.
Best part of True Tears to me is probably the fact that it had eufonius.

I have an interesting question for you guys.
Why do you prefer anime over manga? or why do you prefer manga over anime?
Are there animes that you feel are better as mangas or vice versa?

Initially I thought of LoGH but 110 for 13 didn't seem too fair (and I think I can convince him anyway). Don't think I can add more than one thing, lol. But yeah, so far I think it's pretty boring, but hey only three episodes in.

Gunslinger Girl manga ended (not sure when) -- finally realized it and caught up. I think a lot of people might be put off by what it seems to be (girls und guns) but it's definitely one of the better "dark" manga. Very good ending too. You have to appreciate any writer who creates a premise and follows through on it from start to end, without "selling out," so to speak.
For people who just want to know how it ended... + Show Spoiler +Henrietta and GiuseppeDuring a raid against Jacomo, Henrietta's trauma prevents her from being able to fire guns... so Giuseppe has her memory wiped in order to suppress the trauma and re-formulate her as a robotic soldier, at the cost of her lifespan. During the subsequent battle it's apparently that wipe isn't absolutely perfect, so she harbors intense feelings of protectiveness for Giuseppe. All for naught though - when a masked terrorist stabs her with a knife and pins her down, her trauma comes back, she goes nuts, and when Giuseppe tries to calm her down, she shoots him through the abdomen. Remember the Eliza arc? Most people don't. "The truth is, if you love someone so much, but realize that it'll never come true, I would kill them, and then--" as he lays dying, Giuseppe realizes what Henrietta's intending to do, and and they mutually agree that he shoot her in the head. Triella and VictorTriella leads point on the second raid against Jacomo and gets nailed by a 50mm, tearing off her left arm and leg. She stays behind to hold off a battalion to buy time for Henriett and Rico as they go to regroup with Giuseppe and Jean. Victor finds out that she stayed on the "other side of the door" and runs back alone, and they both go down fighting. Rico and JeanThey only two actually make it all the way to Jacomo, Jean tries fulfill his life's wish to "take Jacomo with me" in a knife fight, but loses and gets used as a human shield by Jacomo. Rico fires a rifle through him to nail Jacomo, and while Jean wants to just die, because he's fulfilled his wish and his friends + family all died, she pleads for him to "live for me." Jean later wakes up in a hospital saying "it's alright, I heard." Rico passes away a year later, her life span having reached its limits. Claes says that she thinks "although they all have short lifespans, that Henrietta, Triella, and Rico all must have been satisfied with the way they lived and died." Petruschka and AlessandroThey both live as well, although it turns out Alessandro (not too surprisingly) was Petra's lover before she died... and that she had (and has) cancer, which was ultimately the reason why she died in the first place. Petra gets pulled from frontline combat duty in the second raid against Jacomo and survives, and the doctor lets her "unlock" her brainwashing, giving her back her memories (at some cost, brain-wise), which she accepts because she's realized by that point she she doesn't have much time to live. Petra succumbs to Leukemia. ClaesTries to "protect her garden" against the anti-government forces, but when the anti-government forces plead with her that she shouldn't throw away her life 1v100, and that they had fought along her former handler (who she's forgotten about), she collapses on the ground, and the scientists all rush to plead for her life, saying that she's "no longer a soldier, just a girl that wants to read and enjoy music." Her passing isn't depicted, but she ends by saying that "these days she sees an illusion, of a man walking away at dusk." Victor and Triella, part 2Before their raid on Jacomo, Victor secretly extracted Triella's ovary and stored it in a hospital. He passes it on to Roberta, saying that Triella was the hope passed on to him from Rachel, and that now he hopes to pass on the hope to Roberta. SperanzaShe's a short-haired, dark-skinned girl raised by a single mother (Roberta), who's in a university for med school with prodigious intelligence, meets a rising film-maker at a business lecture, and accepts his bet for whether he can get an A and raise funds from kickstarting a documentary/interview about her. Years later, the interview/documentary was such a hit that it turned the film-maker into a world-reknown director, and her into a world-reknown actress. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/Vk0o6Yy.jpg) "To the mother who raised me... I don't mind the animation in Steins Gate, but it is strange, sort gives it a weird otherworldy feel. I like it now that I think about it when I'm not almost asleep. (what I'm talking about is the glowiness).

I also like slow stuff. A lot of people told me the first 8 eps of texhnolyze were slow too and I had no problem with it at all. Wouldn't even have known they were 'slow' if people hadn't said anything. They were a little bit weird at times though (kinda wtf moments). That said, I should really finish texhnolyze, I stopped watching at a good part for some reason.

Indeed, you should finish it. Shame on you.
Then come and feel hollow with the rest of us.

It's really too generic to really answer... one can usually tell if something is adapted well into TV or not, but not compare the different media in a meaningful way. Though because different pace / schedule, many TV adaptations end up with weird ending or just halfway without ever finishing.

Are there animes that you feel are better as mangas or vice versa? The reason I like anime is because it's a full work of art. It has drawing, music and storytelling all together. I just it's really cool to bring all those things together. I read half of a manga once but I just read regular books mostly.
|
Manga's more convenient for me. I can read it on my phone, or on my laptop when I'm watching a movie or tv show. And I can read it at my own pace, some shows need better pacing.
|
Well, I can read manga / LN at work. Can't do that with anime (technically I could pull it off, but much greater risk)
