Yang died. Sigh. I do like the opportunity of growth this gives Julian as a character, though. Still, damned Terraists, and what a shitty way to die. Later at the funeral it just looked like he was asleep ):

Finished Votoms and yeah it does get weird near the end. It does devolve into PS = Newtypes in terms of combat skill as well so even though they aren't using super mechs they have similar results. The ending is weird too because + Show Spoiler +
of the god elements and the eventual "happy ending" where Chirico and Fyana are shot into space. Couldn't they just live in some back water planet with no technology?

I'd say Zeta Gundam, but it's not a very good series
eh? Zeta sad? Uh I guess the part with Psycho Pilot was kinda sad but honestly I didn't care. Kamille and pilot are fairly polarizing characters opinion-wise, I didn't like them at all, while the characters who die in sad moments in logh are almost universally liked.
I wouldn't mind a couple more seasons, but not likely anytime soon. For some reason LN > Anime that's immensely popular are just forgotten by publisher after a couple season (cough cough FMP cough).

Zeta Gundam isn't a very good series...? Anyway, I don't think that Zeta compares in any way to the amount of sadness that LoGH had.

I was really amused at how Chirico keikaku'd 'God', and the way he killed him. There actually IS a problem with them going to some back water planet with no technology. The Shining Heresy OVA is a direct sequel, and it touches up on that.
Hey guys. I haven't watched almost anything this season but I like to check in periodically to see if anything as good as TTGL or Puella Magi Madoka have come out in the last year or two. So has there been anything good like that lately?

More accurately it's not a very good Gundam series. I'd go 08MS, 0080, Turn A, CCA, G, Original, X, Seed, One of Zeta / 0083 / Unicorn. Might be the age I watched them (Zeta when I was in elementary school and LoGH in college), it didn't feel anywhere near as powerful.
I've been waiting the new 08MS release for a while but that looks a bit weird. I also much prefer the series without ep 12 so might just be my resistance to messing with it.

I don't remember exactly, but I think the lifespan of a PS (a "normal" PS, mind you ) is significantly shorter than that of an average human, which may help explain their reasoning for whole cryo thing.

Well, Zeta Gundam is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, by a lot of Gundam fans. But not everyone agrees. At the very least, even if you don't personally think its that great, you can't really deny its position in terms of popularity with Gundam fans. Personally the only Gundam series I think are on its level are SEED and Turn A.
I enjoyed Zeta Gundam, but it really annoyed me that it's one of those series you can't tell what is cannon. They retconned the ending in the main series with the Zeta movie when they already had a sequel for the Zeta series even though it was comedy.
And I didn't know about the Votoms OVA I'll have to watch that.

Yeah, thats why most people don't consider the Zeta movies canon. 0079 gets the same treatment sorta, but the differences between the TV show and the movies don't actually contradict each other like with the Zeta movies.
I have a chart for VOTOMs watch order around somewhere, let me see if I can dig it up.
Here it is:
The Last Red Shoulder, Roots of Ambition, and Mellowlink are the best VOTOMs side story/sequel stuff.

I believe the series ending is canon, as is ZZ (until further notice) and CCA. IIRC, Tomino explicitly said that the Zeta movies are an alternate universe.

Speak of SEED, it was one of my absolute fav up until Akatsuki no Kuruma... then it turned into Gundam Wing rerun.
I guess its related to why I like 08MS and 0080 alot while not as big a fan of LoGH. How "normal" people are affected seem more interesting to me than all the politic and ideological stuff.
Now I'm not sure what the upcoming Neptunia anime is going to be about. I thought it was going to be an adaption of Neptunia V, but the designs they have released are all over the place. Neptune's design is from V, but all the other Goddess designs are from 1/Mk2. Maybe its supposed to be sometime between Mk2 and V? Or maybe something entirely original? I guess we will see. If it isn't a V adaption, I guess no Hanakana! lol.
