There are alot of good Mecha in the Gundam Series. I made a big ass blog on that too: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=332650 If you liked Escaflowne, a Macross anime would be a good fit. The original and the movie (Do You Remember Love) are both considered classics. Macross Plus is like Top Gun+Mecha. Macross 2 is solid. Macross 7 is... Hit or miss with alot of people. Macross Frontier is the most recent, and is a fine show despite its flaws. Never watched Macross Zero. Break Blade, as mentioned, is also very good. As are pretty much all the shows I mentioned in my Mecha Blog. If you have any specific questions about any of them, feel free to ask.

Also: Vandread Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari We might as well consider Mahou Shoujo Nanoha as mecha at this point, right?

Im not really a mecha buff, but EVOL just caught me off guard so hard. I loved it a lot, I considered it my "guilty pleasure" of 2012. Characters are meh, but the animation and music is just orgasmic (pun intended) ![]()

who is a Perfect Soldier, although she is not doing Newtype Gundam level feats she is just a good pilot better than the ex-ace pilot protagonist. Though yes I got the part of it being some secret society and a larger war is going on, but it's still about chasing the PS.

Not counting Nadesico, I wouldn't suggest those other two like Vandred over any of the mecha anime already mentioned. Unless you really like Harem anime. Aquarion EVOL is technically a sequel to Genesis of Aquarion, but its one of those sequels that is far enough removed where it isn't mandatory to have seen it. EVOL is alright, the 2nd half is much weaker than its first half. The series isn't meant to be very serious. The plot kind of threw me off because of how unimportant it seems. Is the plot really about chasing a girl and that's it? Though yes I got the part of it being some secret society and a larger war is going on, but it's still about chasing the PS. How far are you in VOTOMs? Anyway, VOTOM's thing is its "realism", in that it tries to be as hard scifi as Mecha can be, for the most part. The second arc of the show is the best.

Rebs said macross 7, not frontier, though I enjoyed 7 more for some reason. Vandread's is not really harem though. It's a really hot blooded shounen show disguised as harem. ISM on the other is just arse kicking fun. Agree other shows would have priority though I like them both better than RahXephon and way over Code Geass aka Robot on Skates BEFORE jumping the shark, the hippo, and the dinosaur.
