I've finished 0080 war in the pocket, 08th ms team, 0083 stardust, and zeta. :|

Still, Char and the 0079 is where I feel the most that they just decided to split Amuro/Char into the 2 characters of Seed.
It's nice seeing Amuro go (across and within series) from whiny bitch to tough shits as opposed to Kira' whiny bitch but hax skills trumps all bullshit.
|
yeah, I haven't seen much of Amuro (only in Zeta ;_; )
|
Watching these old series just makes me mad sometimes, its like if Cowboy Bebop was redone and suddenly there's 2 Spikes with all of the focus on his jet and his gun.

For all the criticisms by the UC purists, Gundam Seed actually revitalized the Gundam Series. I mean, just look at the legion of fangirls that Kira Yamato has.
And yeah, it makes much sense that it was a Newtype poll. I knew Gintoki would never be that popular ._.
I actually didn't hear that they are making The World God Only Knows into an anime (until now). If it gets 26 episodes, I can see them fitting every heroine into the series, at the rate of one girl per episode. The manga, of course, doesn't seem like it's ending anytime soon, so I don't know what the rush is all about. Seems like a common practice to animate any 100+ chapter manga these days.

I just came across this excellent Haruhi doujin. It's pretty cute. I wouldn't read it if you haven't read/watched Disappearance yet though.
+ Show Spoiler +
I keep seeing Yuki threads everywhere I go. I don't know how much willpower I have left here. TT

Getting caught up on all the stuff I missed... Taking a while.
Durarara is back and boy is it good. I loved how the plot arcs from the first half didn't really carry over into the 2nd half. The anime left us with Izaya and his plot about Valhalla, and it barely mentioned that at all while cleaning up all the little details it threw in during the first arc (focus on the Slasher). Now its time to conjecture on the identity of the Slasher.... Not exactly sure what to expect from Narita, and that just makes me all the more excited for the show ^_^
The Spring season is slowly dying out for me... Shows that had potential are failing miserably. I'll have to watch Angel Beats 2 to see if this season can be saved... While praying for Manglobe to bring this season back from the brink.

On April 13 2010 11:29 Spazer wrote:+ Show Spoiler +I still can't believe how badly they messed up that show. Screw new main characters - we'll just have Kira take over halfway through the season. -_- + Show Spoiler +In all honesty, I don't care that Kira took over in SEED Destiny. The new cast was so terrible compared to the old ones. Shinn was such a shitty Camille. Rey, Luna, all those new characters sucked compared to the returning cast. They tried to "fix" that problem by attempting to kill or ruin the SEED characters, which also didn't turn out good. Destiny had so many problems, its kinda funny to look back on it.
I think SEED gets an undeservedly bad reputation due to SEED Destiny. SEED is still one of my favorite Gundam series. I've also watched most of the different Gundam shows (I think Victory is the only one I've yet to complete). I've never understood the hate it can get from other Gundam fans.

Keon goes up tommorow right?

DHL fail, it is willing to leave 3 other smaller sized packages but not a big box-like one that weights a ton? Anyone who lifted it would realize it is just a batch of books, and we don't steal books in the States. No value.
As I wait till I go home today to finally own my copy of Zaregoto, until then I'll make do with Bungaku Shoujo illustrations (dammit I can't find them online anywhere and dollar has been performing decently).

I was going to grumble about how bungaku shoujo isn't serialized but got theatrical versions, but then figured what the heck, like rakkyo, it works better for this work
Break Blade is still sub 100 chapters, albeit long chapters~

Were Break Blade chapters that long? I feel like they're not that much longer than Shounen Jump chapters, although that might be because they don't often have that much text >_>

I think Break Blade chapters are like 25+ pages to 20ish of Jump?

Ah. Speaking of Break Blade, + Show Spoiler +Girge It's a bit interesting though considering the only other work I know of this mangaka is Rampage, which sucked ass. Wonder what happened.
In terms of length, I guess I'm used to some of those magazines with like 30-40-page chapters. Like Zero-Sum. I don't think Break Blade chapters were that sort of length, so they're kinda middlin' for me.

I heard that game sucked, though? I mean it had massive fan support but I heard the game itself sucked?

Nothing against Seed, it's just they really just copped out for the revenues from the toys later on, the series is "hated" namely because it could have been better, but it felt like they had this great idea/template from the UC time line, cropped it into 1 series, decided to split that 1 series into 2 series, then finally just filling out the gaps with pretty sub-par material and some re-hashed mechas.
That's the reason why most of the old watchers were mad, I never understood it well enough other than the typical hardcore complainers you would get for any long running franchise (Star Wars and Star Trek for example), then watching the originals, it's like wow, whatever was good you got from UC and whatever was bad is your own work. So your contribution to the series, not that great.
Seed did make the franchise profitable and worthy of investment again.

It is the usual August stuff, enjoyable but nothing too deep or worth thinking about much. It wasn't top class, but it wasn't horrific either. Mainstream kind of romance story.

Well, AU stories have idealized theologies compared to politics in UC. That is to say, the main character's faction always seems to be a third party without any substantial backing and somehow has the R&D division for the best gundams in the universe. They also fight for love and peace. Even the AEUG has its rank and file and their mechas are not better than their enemy's units.
Really, the AU gundams are leaning more towards super robots genre and should be enjoyed in their own rights. G gundam was exceedingly more popular than Victory Gundam, and this pretty much characterized the transition with an emphatic thud. G gundam was probably the most super robot gundam series to have ever been created, and it immediately followed the last of characteristic all-kill Tomino's series.
I think Sunrise made the right move by making Gundam Unicorn OVA while making AU television series. This way, the dedicated UC fans will buy up the Unicorn OVA and the popular AU will get their fair share of TV rating.
As an aside, I really would like to associate UC fans with Ciel fans (the dedicated few) just to get on Ecael's case. But even a blind fanboy like me knows that this is not an apt analogy.
Goddamn why did I click the spoiler on Break Blade. WHY?! I'm like, obsessive compulsive on click on the tag just because it's something to click on.
Yes, Southlight, I know you did. I'm just blaming myself, lol

Err, well I did spoiler it :x
I think SEED was okay, for the most part, but I just feel like Gundam series as a whole tend to be too long. The shorter ones seem to be much more compelling. 08th, Stargazer, Endless Waltz... The Kira vs Athrun in SEED was compelling, most of the rest of the mumbojumbo was not. That sort of thing.

Yeah OK I just heard about this anime from a friend of mine and it seems the main protagonist is a pedophile... He's 16 years old and apparently he said that he only dates girls under 12 oO. Only reason he's working at the restaurant is because he has a crush on a girl that looks like a preschooler who works there. Can anyone confirm/otherwise this? Because if its true then its pretty damn weird.
