Yeah, I definitely recommend replacing the game music with the remix soundtrack Ever After. It makes the game much more enjoyable.

Wait Kaal why does Muvluv suck? Just wondering if the obvious pacing flaws killed the entire experience for you or if you thought everything about it is terrible for some reason.

I didn't like it. The pacing was decent and the story was ok, but I couldn't get attached to any of the characters.

It's like a massive advancement has happened in a few chapters all of a sudeen when we were so used to filler arcs. =O They've been hinting at the everyone dumps Nagi arc for a bit, and if something like that happens obviously it'll only happen because of some main story reasons.

It was one of the earliest Type Moon VNs made. Kagetsu Tohya is a fan disk for Tsukihime, so you could read that afterwards. Melty Blood is a sequel of sorts to Tsukihime, so you could read/play that afterwards. I dunno if the more recent incarnations of MB (like MBAC, MBAA, or MBAACC) have the same VN-type story to it, but the original did, although the first incarnation of MB had a really unpolished cluncky fighting system. There is some MB manga, isn't there? And isn't some of the MB stuff (or some VN:s in general), like, for playstation/psp or something like that? Maybe you can use a PC for it anyway, but, eh... time for me to go sleep. I'll just dive into Tsukihime for now. theres a tsukihime manga, which is actually well done but only covers one of the routes, and a melty blood manga which is ok, though the comedy 2nd part is pretty funny melty blood was annoying to play through for the story. 2nd part best part, more Kohaku-san than ever.

KazeHydra, since you're starter this week let me know what maps you're most comfortable on so we can decide on vetoes. Anyone else feel free to chime in too.

Just noticed this thread. My two cents : Death note is probably one of the best mangas I've read and I recommend it to anyone that's less into the action-packed fight stuff and more into psychological "thrillers". It's essentially a battle of brains, trickery, deciet. The manga has been completed long ago so every volume is available for purchase. Same goes for the anime, but I prefer paper. Then, Soul eater is quite cool. It's a shonen, nice setting and environment, action-packed fights, humor, à la naruto etc. but better in my opinion. Don't watch the anime though, it's a different storyline than the manga and the last episodes close it off super badly. The fights are nice in the anime though so it evens out.
Things I only watch in anime when I notice them on Tv : One piece, Naruto shippuden.

God did the Soul Eater anime suck so bad. It started off great imo, I was hyped. Then from like ep 40 and so on, it just got so bad. I might have to read the manga just to get a proper closure.
On another note. I watched the Aki Sora OVAs, all of them... No words...

well the manga is still going that's why it's better. It's a different storyline. The anime was super cool at the start ( or rather, in the middle, because the start was kinda childish in my opinion. ) and then it seems like they had to close it off super quickly so the storyline diverted from the manga and it closed off so bad. I remember being there when the final episode was uploaded ( so yeah ) and 30 min later just rage all over the place, it was such a BAD BAD ending.

Aki Sora OVA make the manga (which is a pile of bleep by its own right) seem competent...

I was thinking of reading the Steins; Gate and Phantom of Inferno VNs, though I've already watched the anime for both. I assume that reading them is still totally worth it despite that?
Also, I'd like some other VN recommendations as well. These are the ones I have read so far:
F/SN Saya no Uta Little Busters! Kara no Shoujo all the Muv Luv ones Planetarian (in progress)
In addition I started G-senjou no maou but I haven't really touched it because of the bad stuff I've heard about it and because of one very annoying character.
Oh, I guess I should read Chaos; Head, Umineko and Tsukihime? I've watched the (appearantly terrible) anime adaptions for those.
Go ahead with G-Senjou because it is excellent. When you say "one very annoying character", I assume you're talking about the male friend. I thought he was pretty funny. I would also recommend Sharin no Kuni.
Clannad is another good one since you've played LB.

dont let anyone tell you how bad gsen is people here love to hate it but thats only because its so popular and often considered a starter for people who read vns i enjoyed it a lot its if this were a VN only thread its like saying you really like death note (as a comparison) you'd kinda get laughed at because everybody has seen so many better shows already could just be my opinion though you seem to have read many good VNs already, though, so maybe you won't like it. i think the comparison to death note or code geass really fits

Would you like to debate the merits of G-Sen? If people only hate the VN because its popular, and don't have actual reasons, then it should be pretty easy to show that, no?

Peoples preference on G-sen will vary. If people dont mind completely retarded plot twist and want just retarded story telling in general than ya sure you will love G-sen. The beginning to mid of G-sen was pretty good but then it completely goes downhill.
