On another note, reading the LN of FMP as well as rewatching it. So good. Looks pretty darn good considering it's from ~2002, too ![]()

I think if they made more FMP anime, they would probably base it off the manga. From what I remember, didn't the manga skip that part? Not that I mind if they do that at all, since COMO and BOMF totally deserve to get animated ASAP. It's like JoJo, except the poses aren't nearly half as cool. Well there's been a lot of manga talk lately, and I'm pretty bored, so I'm gonna spout off some thoughts/recommendations about random series I want to talk about. All Rounder Meguru - In short, a manga about MMA. I don't even watch the sport and I still found it interesting. Done by Endo Hiroki of Eden fame. The same quirky jokes and facial expressions are present, but fortunately, the high body count did not carry over. Scans seem dead atm. Ongoing series. Dorohedoro - A very unique world, and a pretty good cast of characters. Notable in that the villains are just as fleshed out as the main characters, and many of them are likeable as well. Pretty good (albeit weird) humor. Also gory as hell. Ongoing series. Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There - A portal opens up in Japan leading to a medieval fantasy world. Involves the JSDF fucking up knights with machine guns and helicopters. Mildly amusing. Ongoing. Silver Spoon - Done by Arakawa Hiromu of Fullmetal Alchemist fame. Top notch humor. It's like Moyashimon, but focused on animal husbandry instead of fermentation, and like Moyashimon, it's highly engaging and interesting. Being Hachiken is suffering. Ongoing weekly releases. Why aren't you reading this? Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - An LN series that somehow spawned 2 manga and a 4koma. Unfortunately, all of these adaptations suck except for one of them, and that is this one. You will know if you have the wrong version because the art will suck horribly. A highly entertaining story that subverts the usual hero killing the demon king stuff. Ongoing. An anime adaptation is upcoming, and it's going to shit all over the art of the good manga. + Show Spoiler [Art Comparison] + ![]() Fuck. Puchimasu - A weird manga about the Idolmaster cast and chibi versions of themselves. Excellent jokes. Ongoing. Sengoku Youko - A lot of people like to gush about Hoshi no Samidare, which is why I find it odd that seemingly nobody is reading this, considering it's by the same mangaka. The content is very much what you'd expect, a combination of epic scenes, decent character development, and drama. Ongoing. Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji - The next chapter in the chronicles of Kaiji's suffering after The Bog. Features minefield mahjong. Scans should be complete in a month or less. Tokyo Ravens - Mediocre story about some Omyoji stuff. Eca claims it takes a bunch of vols to get going, but the scans are only at vol 3 so it's hardly relevant advice ~_~. Ongoing, slowly. Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata - Mediocre romance story with some shallow subplot about the problems of being a genius. I read it because the designs/art is pretty damn good. Simple, yet refined. Ongoing. + Show Spoiler [Example page] + ![]() Franken Fran - Unique manga about zombie girl Frankenstein (essentially) who is a doctor that performs various fantastical surgeries. Expect eldritch abominations. Very gruesome at times. Also hilarious. There isn't much of a continuous plot, although some amusing carryovers do appear. Highly recommended, if you can stomach it. Completed series. If you read this and liked it, Arthur Pyuty wa Yoru no Majo is ongoing, and by the same mangaka. Full Metal Panic - You haven't experienced the best of the series until you've read Burning One Man Force (alternatively, you can read the Full Metal Panic Sigma manga, which also covers this storyline at some point). That is all. Goth - A short manga (1 volume) about serial killing. Very good. Highly entertaining MC. Also recommended by Uta~ Kokou no Hito - A manga about mountain climbing. It does a decent job of explaining the dangers of climbing, and succeeds in creating tension. The art, especially the panoramas of mountains, was really good. What pissed me off most about this manga was that EVERY character is an asshole, with maybe two exceptions. It just seemed really contrived. Completed series. Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa - A sometimes weird, sometimes hilarious, sometimes crushingly depressing manga by Fukumoto of Akagi/Kaiji fame. The story is about a middle aged man with few skills and horrible interpersonal skills going through a midlife crisis. The rest... is hard to describe. The manga features some of the most batshit insane logic you will ever see applied to a realistic fight. Overall, it was pretty enjoyable. Completed series. Usotsuki Mii-kun to Kowareta Maa-chan Totteoki no Uso - A personal favorite. Features a pair of crazy kids who were traumatized by some events in the past, and a series of murders that begin shortly after they reunite. Excellent pacing. Based on an LN series, but for whatever reason, only one manga vol was ever planned. Completed series (I guess?).

Though just a note, acquiring translations of the previous 2 volume sets of Kaiji, Tobaku Mokushiroku and Tobaku Hakairoku, can be a real bitch for anyone interested in checking it out. I recommend watching the two anime instead, then moving to Tobaku Datenroku Even if they suffer extra much from FKMTpacing(tm) the godlike soundtrack makes up for it. Heck, I don't get why anyone wouldn't have watched Kaiji by now?! The whole series is truly one of the best out there unless your name is Emnjay or DarthXX. Don't think I've met a single person in adt or the irc that doesn't like it and didn't have + Show Spoiler + in my opinion + Show Spoiler + ...God damnit, I couldn't hold it in. Sorry. I'm probably worse than Ragz and his Last Exile at times when it comes to this.

Is it possible to find some eng subbed episodes or do I have to go and read the manga? ![]() ----- On current topic: Silver Spoon is not something I could get into but I would still recommend it to everyone. It's one of the things you have to definitely go and see for yourself. Dorohedoro is not only awesome visual drug but has a great setting and excellent plot much more so than idk Deadman wonderland for example. And Strongest Man Kurowasa is 10/10 really. That guy ^ knows the good shit. btw is anyone reading Mazinger Angel Z? And who else thinks Shinsekai Yori is absolutely mind blowing? One more manga I'd say is a must read is Shingeki no Kyojin. That one made me once again realise why I admire the narratives and imagination of these mangakas so much. It's about giants eating up towns btw. big ups at ragz_gt for the Sazan Eyes ^^

i immediatly thought onani master kurosawa, but it is not <.< also one rec from me, if you want to read a hilarious comedy, read ai kora (love & college) the author has several works, but only this and midori no hibi are really good imo (midori no hibi is more on the romance side)

Arms might play to its strength, though it just screams something weird like Shinbou treatment, and keeping it 0 name. If they just do a straightforward fantasy anime then it's gg.

Well keep in mind it is written with pure conversations, a play w/o any narratives really, so the length is rather inflated if you just look at page numbers. Completed series (I guess?). iirc mii-maa manga was really well drawn, and since it only covered like one vol of LN it didn't need to go into the wtf trash part of that particular series. Tokyo Ravens will be like another 2ish vols of manga at least before shit gets real at all lol, that said the LN has been moving along quite well. Anime might turn out to be pretty good. A problem I have with Kaiji is that it is stupid as hell to read it chapter by chapter. You can only put up with watching him suffer so long. So in a way Kaiji basically turns into Code Geass with suffering instead of nonsense, a few weeks of suffering, bullshit occurs by maphack, a few weeks of suffering again. Kaiji as a series to me, in comparison to Akagi, has much poorer pacing and explores less interesting areas. I guess to some people it can be entertaining, but I was pretty fed up with the structure by the end of the first part of Kaiji and reading it by the chapters doesn't help at all.
