And I guess a kid who had been thrust into the middle of a war to fight and kill, and ends up crying and shit over his situation is really over-the-top.
And too many of them? There isn't anything new or out of the ordinary for the amount of kids there. I mean shit, there were like 3 orphaned 5 year-olds running around White Base in the original, in addition to Amuro and the rest.
I just can't get over you thinking Wing was so great, and then criticizing SEED for basically retelling the original Gundam series with pink explosions. They were made to be Gundam Pilots, of course they wouldn't really have personalities, especially Heero. Duo would be the most "normal" character of these five, followed by Quatre and Wufei. If you pay attention to their backgrounds, it makes sense. Treize and Zechs are realistic, at least half of the anime. Treize is the more interesting one but to the end he screws his motives and character which I can't understand. Yeah, the red haired girl is in the middle of the war, fighting and killing people...oh wait, she is not, she doesn't even do a damn thing, except for being racistic and a total dick. She blaims everything on others and does nothing herself. And what's with her friends? They accept her, just ignore the fact that she is a terrible person. "Hey, you didn't do the right thing, just apologize. Who cares whether you really mean it that way or not if you do it." Kira seems to be the only realistic one of this group of kids.
I didn't watch the original yet and who says this series has to be good? Just because it's old? I don't think so. It's no wonder you can't get over it since you are assuming I liked the original.

So I just finished Code Geass

I feel like I'm talking about D3 vs. D2 here, but...
I never really got into any of the newer Gundams (Wing+) just cause of the style of the artwork seemed so radically different. Perhaps it's because of the advancement of animation technology, but all of the new mecha anime seem to have...shiny and pretty and colorful and ultimately very childish animation schemes. Not that color is bad, but series like Code Geass, SEED, TTGL have these candy-like appearances to them. I actually never got into Code Geass because of that; it just wasn't very "cool" to me. SEED had a similar problem for me. Wing's artwork and animation had a sort of gritty, dark, feeling in it that none of the more modern ones have had. Again, this might be because of animation quality (it was bad in those days relative to now).
But yeah. It seems like FMP is the only anime that does their mecha animation/artworks "tastefully" rather than flamboyantly...
Or maybe it's just me.

Hungry Wild Heart Striker looks really cool!

Because they pilot a Gundam, they aren't supposed to have personalities? What the fuck. A Gundam Pilot has to do one thing: Pilot giant robots that shoot things. How the hell do you get "If you pilot a gundam, you shouldn't have a personality"? Thats stupid.
And Flay, who I assume you are talking about, was a refugee. The entire point of her character is for you to not like her. Have you never watched an anime with a character that was designed to be a dick in it? You will probably grow to like her even less as the series progresses. But don't worry, she dies. Now you have something to look forward to, right?
@DarkOptik: I enjoy both new and old Gundams. I'm not sure what you mean by "candy-like apperances"? I guess you are talking about the colors, but are the colors used for newer mechs all that different from the old ones?

really? I found that the second season was a bit disappointing. All of the action was disjointed and it didn't flow very well at all :/

Second season was a trolling. Yeah, starting R2 with amnesia and a time skip didn't exactly endear me to it. The story was also kinda meh, but at least the ending sorta made up for it.
Just finished watching the final episode of Hayate season 1, and I have to say, I'm impressed that they managed to turn a reference to The Girl Who Leapt Through Time into something somewhat plot relevant. I thought they were just going to play it for laughs... You know, it doesn't really hit you how much anime you've watched until you realize that you get all the references they throw at you. =/

2nd season did feel a bit rushed and scattered, but the ending made up for it really well. Though as a whole, it's one of the best series I've watched.

I thought the ending of it was the most trolling part of it. Like from the point where + Show Spoiler +the Emperor showed up, and Lulouch went to that Island to confront him , to the end, it was like Sunrise had no clue as to what they were doing for the series. I guess the last episode was good compared to all the stuff leading up to it, but thats it.

I started School Days, after reading about it several times in this thread. I played the first chapter of the visual novel (but only one route, so it took about 20 minutes) and had downloaded a pack of cut scenes before. I watched them all, and of course a special one, which I'm guessing is near the end of the game was included. I can probably guess some of the context in which events occur, and it sucks the end (I'm guessing) will be spoiled to an extent for me, but at least I shouldn't act with a giant "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" near the end.

+ Show Spoiler +I felt like the entire part where Lelouch finally confronted his father was completely rushed. It kinda felt like a filler between Lelouch being fucked over by Schneizel and the final battle between the two. I expected more from Lelouch's confrontation with his father in the end because it seemed like the whole anime was leading up to that point. I was kinda disappointed when Schneizel took up the role of ultimate bad dude.

To this day, I still don't understand how the Emperor flew over to Lelouch during his death scene. It defies all logic.

Clicked this spoiler without thinking, but I have to say:
+ Show Spoiler + I just finished episode 3, and now completely hate Makoto.

Lol, I didn't really mind the utter inanity of S2.
I mean, I thought S1 was pretty stupid but took itself somewhat seriously. S2 was utterly stupid, but by the end it couldn't take itself seriously at all, which actually made it more likable imo.

Okay....
+ Show Spoiler [School Days] +Fuck this shit. Just finished episode 6, and this show is getting to me infinitely more than I thought was possible. I was immediately sold on Kotonoha, both in my little experience with the visual novel, and once again in the anime. Her finally gaining some courage and sticking up for herself only to see what's really going on was just a massive kick in the balls. I might just skip episodes 7-11, and watch 12.
|
Yeah School Days is an emotional rollercoaster.
You shouldn't skip a single episode imo.
|
Yeah, I'm not going to, but it's pissing me off.
