The first episode blew me away. I went in with low expectations, but it was a return to what made the old series great and is one of the better episodes i'd seen in a while.
There should be 6 60min episodes but.... they will be released (apparently) over the course of 3 years, with 2 a year (the next in like august or sept). Sucks ya, but the episode is still great. Well, as much as this mobile suit kicks so much ass, the pilot sucks SOOOOO bad (can't even own the weak Jagen. Man, I wanna see 1337 pilots like Amuro Ray or Kira Yamato. I really need to hurry up and finish Double Zeta, so I can watch Unicorn. The design of that first mech you posted is really sexy.

It was just too fast and too random and way too cheesy...a guy with drills coming out of his hands and the whole stupid briefcase thing. The first set of characters were all just so damn boring...like shit that had been done a million times before... I loved that briefcase thingy I guess on the subject, should I start reading the manga again? After watching the anime I started the manga, but it was so freaking generic -- random guy meets random action girl who's skirt flies up every battle and who has the character development of porridge. Does it get any better, or should I just screw it? Edit -- and I found the first ep of Ga Rei Zero hilarious too. I was like "what? Um... ok..." Whilst procrastinating as I write an essay, I decided to start on the manga...
And you're right. It's complete garbage. I'm on chapter 15 at the moment, and it really doesn't go anywhere, makes very little sense more often than not, and doesnt take itself seriously at all.
Even if the manga came first, it's a complete disservice to the anime, which is a relative masterpiece. -_-
Don't bother picking it back up.

Dance in the Vampire Bund
What is it with the INCREDIBLY bad scene cutting and the weird single colour video every now and then (specifically red and black in the 7th episode) ?

Shaft begging for money and production time again, I bet, all their efforts can't even come close to supporting 2+1 animes, and I'd think that they are focusing all their manpower at bakemonogatari.
I mean, it only outsold k-on.

I mean, it only outsold k-on. I think with the profits from Bakemonogatari, Shaft can produce a ton of good (hopefully) animes .
If not, I'll be a sad panda.

Shaft will still be shaft, though. They are too used to cutting corners in production. I don't think it's just the general budget problem as much as the lack of effort (though I don't know how they operate, so I don't really have the authority to say anything). It is only after the success of Bakemonogatari that they went back and fixed many, many scenes for the DVD release. During its run, there are even incomplete scenes, and I'm not counting the modern art crap that they sometimes insert.
On the other note, the latest Gintama antics have me going WTF and ROFL at the same time. Only Gintama and Daily Show can make me laugh at scrotum-based jokes. The line between humor and grotesque is pushed to the limit, but the author does well in making sure that it's still funny.

Though I may be remembering Shu's actions to be less extreme than they actually were. Blind idealism is the quintessence of Pangloss . I never really saw Shu's actions as any different. And if you ask me, what's her face's reaction is much more realistic (blond hair girl. Name completely escapes me). No rational human being would be that obsessed with a girl that you met 1 day earlier whose only real words to you were "Help me". I mean come on. There must be a point where fight or flight sensibility take over, and apparently, Shu's basic instincts have gone AWOL. What's even worse is that the show marked Shu as the ultimate savior of the land, thus putting his ideals as the correct thing. That's a no from me I just read Candide last week and I feel really really smart understanding your reference.

Haven't read Candide since highschool, but if there is any character that is said to resemble Pangloss, I probably won't be able to watch the anime without punching a wall. Especially if he doesn't even change slightly like Pangloss did -.-
Shaft's management is funny, I have no idea how they just manage to apparently piss away money...well, just stick around till Nishio Ishin decides that we can have Zaregoto/Ningen series animated, then do that. Then the studio can close for all I care.

I've just finished watching these Endless Eight episodes in a row. I think I may have discovered what torture is there...

I must have been a sadistic because I didn't want to miss one so I watched all 8 of them ><
At least I know how Yuki felt now (if she feels anything).

At least I know how Yuki felt now (if she feels anything). It is the only reason to watch endless eight, and the only "improvement" that the rendition has over the novel. I am not sure the benefits will outweight the sheer pain behind the act, but it + Show Spoiler [movie] +does make Disappearance better, marginally.

Nah, I watched the endless eight as they were coming out. You can say I am more of a sadist since I watched them simultaneously, comparing the slightly difference between them.

Think about the artists for this. Having to redraw the same scenes 8 freaking times with different costumes...
Unless they're into cosplay perhaps? I dunno.

If you actually bothered to watch through all of it, all of the scenes were pretty different as far as perspective and color went.
I'm actually more horrified for the voice actors - but hey, they get paid to repeat the same old shit over and over again anyway.

I guess you only have to remember one set of lines lol!
less work is fine~

I disagree. The lines are similar, but there are many small difference which actually makes remembering the script a lot more confusing.

I still have yet to finish Haruhi s2...which is so sad considering I nearly danced naked in the streets when I heard it was coming out. Endless Eight completely killed that season for me.
